I am fostering two of my breeders Ragdoll cats (while I am waiting for my own Ragdoll kitten to be ready) and they both use this post regularly. This post has stood up to them very well. Ragdolls are a large breed of cat and this does not tip over or slide when they use it. It is nice & sturdy. My kitten will be about 15-20 lbs. (when he is fully grown), so I am glad I tried this out on the foster cats first. It stands up to the job and I would definitely recommend it. The price is good too!!

* * * UPDATE *** after having this post for 2 months, the post snapped off from the bottom board. Now it is useless. I would not recommend this after all!!!!

I was extremely satisfied with the service received. I was unprepared for how sturdy the post is built. I have purchased others from Walmart and PetSmart but this one beats them all. I highly recommend this post. Of course, I have one cat that scratches on it instead of my furniture but the other cat feels it is beneath her to use it so she attempts to scratch the furniture. Again, great item and the price was right also!

My cat absolutely loves this scratching post. It arrived very quickly and was super easy to put together. The product is heavy enough where it doesn't tip over and scare my cat and is fairly attractive. She loves the bouncing puffs on the side which intially attracted her then after a few minutes she started scratching on the jute roping. I would very much recommend this product.

We went through a couple of scratchers. Our cat likes the vertical style over the horizontal / chaise or mat style scratchers. I like the weight of it, she hasn't toppled it once. I also like the included toys. She likes sneaking up on the little fuzzballs and whacking them. She's almost chewed through one of the elastic cords, I have contacted the manufacturer and they are sending replacements. :) I've also added a couple of long strings to it for additional play.

Gidget weighs about 12 pounds now, and has been dragging it around the floor. The upholstered base hasn't scratched our hardwood, and I'll be adding some more weight inside the tube. Overall a great purchase.

I think you can "teach old dogs new tricks" but CATS are different kinds of people. I moved to a new and beautiful apartment with all new furniture. Max and Mary, 13 year old brother and sister still prefer the sofa, chairs and bed to do their 'tricks' on. :-( The only reason I gave this scrath post a four star vs five is that it would probably take a miracle to know what this is for and to use it. But a miracle might still happen. A few days ago I got up in the middle of the night and caught Max actually playing with the little fur balls that hang from the top. (Something that had nothing to do with my buying this). So I'm thinking that if he can do that, we might just have the miracle yet. I doubt it will help Mary as she is a Ms Priss and everything new makes her jump. The scratch post came exactly as described and I have no complaints about it what-so-ever. Maybe with just leaving it in the room may help them want to play with it sometime in the future. Anytime at all will be bettr than none. I so appreciate all the reviews that Amazon has for each and every product as I know everything about what I'm purchasing - sometimes better than even seeing it in stores.

I wasn't sure if they would really use it, I hav 2 adult Persians and 2 12 week old Persians, the babies played with it right away. It took some encouragement for one of the cats because she's use to scratching on the carpeted kitty tower, the other adult loved it right away as well.
Now they all use it and I didn't even need to put the catnip at the top, great product and sturdy!

I have a large cat "tree" and all kinds of items for my cats to scratch on. They absolutely love this! I have six cats, they all seem to want to take turns scratching on it! Everything else I have for them to scratch on just sits. I am about to order another one when they are in stock again.

Good product and it works very well. The weight bag inside is a good idea but it should stay more securely in place. Not a big deal

Well made EZ to assemble cats like it.Priced right.
Most post I have purchased in the past the toy accessory rarely lasts a few days.This has lasted 6 weeks now.
The post rarely tips and the sisal rope looks like it will last awhile.
