Book Description

The war that won the country its independence also lost many of the men who fought to achieve it, including Brom's lover. Years later, he still feels as if he left half of himself on the battlefield. When a new schoolmaster comes to Sleepy Hollow, a spark and a whiskey-flavored kiss ignite feelings he thought were long dead. But in order to be with John, he'll have to let the past be the past, or risk letting it destroy his opportunity to start over. And even then, loving another man is a dangerous endeavor.

Whiskey Dreams is a historical M/M romance, and contains explicit content that is suitable for adult readers only.

Whiskey Dreams is a M/M novella that functions as a prequel to the M/M/F novel Haunted Passions. Whiskey Dreams tells the story of how John & Brom first met and began their relationship before falling in love with Katrina, too.

Whiskey Dreams is a novella of approximately 25,000 words. Also contains an additional brief (1,500 word) excerpt from Haunted Passions.

2.0 out of 5 stars introducing November 23, 2012

This short story serves as a prequel to

Haunted Passions (Sleepy Hollow)

a ménage (M/M/F) erotic romance set in New York (state) at the end of the XVIII century dealing also with the famous legend of the headless rider.

This prequel, which cannot stand on its own, describes the meeting and the first passionate encounters of the two men while the female lead remains on the background and has no part in the sex scenes. Yet I am afraid only those readers liking mixed ménage will be able to appreciate this prequel as we soon realise that she is bound to play a major role shortly afterwards.

The story is good with a nicely paced, if unoriginal, plot. Writing is fairly good but the author has the tendency to overdescribe and overwrite, especially when detailing the emotions of her characters. Roles in bed are rigidly codified and this does not add to the sexual tension.

4.0 out of 5 stars Short, Sexy and HOT! August 26, 2012
By Tams
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Short, Sexy and Steamy! My three favorite colors! This is the prequel to Haunted Passions and introduces us to Brom, John and Katrina. It can be read as a stand alone Novella, but I strongly urge that you follow it up with the more full length novel, Haunted Passions.

Brom is still recovering from the loss of his lover during the war when the Enigmatic new school teacher, John Crane, arrives in town. Brom is immediately drawn to John's innocence, and even though he's an educated man he has a naivete' about him that reel's Brom in even further.

John hides his attraction to Brom initially until the pair share a glass of whiskey and a passionate kiss. Then Brom slips and address's John as his former lover while THEY are making love, quite possibly destroying any chance he had of building something with the sexy school teacher before it even begins. But loving another man is dangerous enough as it is. Even if John can get past Brom's slip of the tongue, so to speak, can he get past the lying and sneaking around for the few stolen moments he and Brom can share?

Blending into the background we have Katrina Van Tassel, quietly planting herself into Brom's life as well as John's. Given the name of the town is Sleepy Hollow and the names of the characters, it's almost immediately obvious that Rose is giving the Headless Horseman classic tale a revamp, with a heavy dose of M/M action!

4.0 out of 5 stars This prequel adds a lot to Haunted Passions. October 22, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
While this book can easily read as a stand alone, the beauty in it is that it adds such depth to two of the three main characters in Haunted Passions. In this book, you see how John and Brom meet and form their friendship/relationship. If this was a stand alone book, I would never have considered downloading and reading it. I am not one for the m/m stand alone. I say this, because I think it might be worth a second look even if you are thinking that you prefer your romance m/f. I am glad I downloaded and read it before I read Haunted Passions. It really made the story "more".

4.0 out of 5 stars Twist on familiar names July 5, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
You'll recognize some names and themes, but the story is completely different. If homosexuality or bisexuality is off-putting for you, I'd recommend you find another read. If it's not a problem for you, I urge you to read it. The story is multi-layered, impactful, and interesting. It's an easy read with no tripping over antiquated words. This one will stay on my Kindle for awhile - definitely wasn't an instant-delete for me.

2.0 out of 5 stars Whiny kid January 12, 2014

I think the title says it all. Not a good read. The main character you feel bad for, because he falls in love (at first sight) with a winy, bratty kid.

3.0 out of 5 stars Gay literary porn written by a woman?! February 11, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I was expecting a touching romantic story. Not that I was disappointed by the fact that this turned out to be nothing but an erotic homosexual fantasy. Being gay myself, I KNOW what it's like. I just couldn't get into this story at all because it didn't sound like it was coming from a male to male perspective. It sounded like the author was just scribbling down her own fantasies. It was free so I can't really complain too much. But, I was being open-minded when I thought that the name Ranae Rose belonged to a male. Now I know why it just didn't feel right . . . because it was coming from a woman who had no real life experience to draw on. I think I'm being generous with 3 stars . . . If you're gay . . . stay away!
