More About the Author
I live in the South with my man in uniform, who I married for the entertainment value. Just kidding - it was the handcuffs, err, true love. ;) So far, our happily ever after includes a couple kids, German Shepherd dogs and a mutual appreciation of timely 'that's what she said' jokes.
When I'm not writing, I love reading, good coffee, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, outdoor adventures and serving my community as a volunteer EMT.
I also love hearing from readers, so don't be shy! If you've enjoyed something I've written, hearing from you would make my day.

Brom is still recovering from the loss of his lover during the war when the Enigmatic new school teacher, John Crane, arrives in town. Brom is immediately drawn to John's innocence, and even though he's an educated man he has a naivete' about him that reel's Brom in even further.
John hides his attraction to Brom initially until the pair share a glass of whiskey and a passionate kiss. Then Brom slips and address's John as his former lover while THEY are making love, quite possibly destroying any chance he had of building something with the sexy school teacher before it even begins. But loving another man is dangerous enough as it is. Even if John can get past Brom's slip of the tongue, so to speak, can he get past the lying and sneaking around for the few stolen moments he and Brom can share?
Blending into the background we have Katrina Van Tassel, quietly planting herself into Brom's life as well as John's. Given the name of the town is Sleepy Hollow and the names of the characters, it's almost immediately obvious that Rose is giving the Headless Horseman classic tale a revamp, with a heavy dose of M/M action!
Haunted Passions (Sleepy Hollow)
a ménage (M/M/F) erotic romance set in New York (state) at the end of the XVIII century dealing also with the famous legend of the headless rider.
This prequel, which cannot stand on its own, describes the meeting and the first passionate encounters of the two men while the female lead remains on the background and has no part in the sex scenes. Yet I am afraid only those readers liking mixed ménage will be able to appreciate this prequel as we soon realise that she is bound to play a major role shortly afterwards.
The story is good with a nicely paced, if unoriginal, plot. Writing is fairly good but the author has the tendency to overdescribe and overwrite, especially when detailing the emotions of her characters. Roles in bed are rigidly codified and this does not add to the sexual tension.
Having forgotten everything but that WHISKEY DREAMS was an M/M historical, a mental fly kept buzzing about my head while reading. Not until @ 40% in did I finally realize that the story was a clever re-working of Washington Irving's "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow". (Yeah, I know, took me long enough but c'mon, I read that decades ago.)
Set in 1784 Sleepy Hollow, New York, Ms. Rose's version re-casts Abraham "Brom Bones" Van Brunt as a former Continental Army soldier who is haunted by the death of his lover/fellow soldier during an ambush more than two years ago. Ichabod is replaced with the more agreeable John Crane, who is still a schoolmaster but becomes Brom's lover instead of his rival. And apparently, both are bi-sexual, which sets up nicely for the intro of the lovely Katrina Van Tassel in the latter part of WHISKEY DREAMS (as well as the story in "Haunted Passions").
Given its short length, Brom and John's relationship occurs at hyper-speed. Everything is from Brom's POV so the reader gets a very limited understanding of John. The sex scenes are highly erotic but their first kiss...
"... Slowly, recklessly, stupidly, he drew John close. Close enough that he could see bright flecks in his grey eyes, truly silver in the moonlight. ... With a last rush of whiskey-scented breath, Brom pressed his mouth against John's. ..."
Technically, I noticed certain oddities (such as narrative text combined with dialogue) and there were minor edit/proof errors.Read more ›

This is a great take on the Ichabod Crane Story. As soon as I finished this I ordered Haunted Passions which continues the characters although each book stands on its own. Read morePublished 21 months ago by Bigblondeandcurly

I think the title says it all. Not a good read. The main character you feel bad for, because he falls in love (at first sight) with a winy, bratty kid.Published on January 12, 2014 by Lance D
