Magnolias and a whisper -- Very highly recommended,
By
This review is from: Whisper (Harlequin Blaze) (Mass Market Paperback)
The scent of magnolias permeates the air as Genna Monroe listens to a seductive, masculine whisper coming from the dark. At first thinking his words are meant for her, "Tell me what you want," her body responds to his whispered sensuality. At once disappointed the words are meant for another, and too tantalized to leave and interrupt the tryst, she remains to listen to the man's worshipful words to the anonymous woman's body, wishing someone would treat her as well. An interruption stops the lovers, the woman leaving with regret, and Genna lingers in the dark alone before returning to the company party.Nick Cavallo sips bourbon and lingers on the verandah cursing himself. Genna must have heard them. Four years of longing for a woman who treats him as an affectionate sister leaves him frustrated. She has never suspected his feelings. But Genna didn't recognize the identity of the whisperer, and Nick turns opportunity to his advantage. They play out a sensual fantasy of heat and passion. But love demands truth, and both have much truth telling and self-examination to endure if they can ever be together for longer than a whisper. Author Nancy Warren plays out a delectable fantasy in WHISPER. A sensual treat that combines eroticism with friendship, Warren deftly confronts the needs of the heart with the need to either gain or loose control. Warren forcing her characters to confront their worst fears even as they play out their secret fantasies. Genna is driven to success, determined to make partner at the expense of any other goal until magnolia blossoms and whisper prove unbearably distracting. Nick has hidden his feelings for years, dating bimbos for distraction and sexual satisfaction but reserving his heart for Genna. Their coming together entangles them both in a battle of priorities and self-honesty, resulting is read that is both rich in characterization and generous in sensuality. Very highly recommended.

Sexy, imaginative and pure fantasy,

This review is from: Whisper (Harlequin Blaze) (Mass Market Paperback)
It all began with a whisper in the dark. Chicago-native Genna Monroe has long placed her career above personal relationships and never regretted it, until one sultry night in New Orleans when she chances to overhear a romantic tryst in a garden. Unable to forget that sexy voice, Genna is shocked when she encounters him the next night in the middle of a masked ball. Dressed as Neptune, the voice tells her that he knows she listened in the garden and offers to fulfill her fantasies. Giving in to her secret desires, Genna embarks on an affair with the mysterious Neptune under cover of darkness. A secret she keeps from her best friend, Nick.
Is it possible to be jealous of yourself? Nick Cavallo has been in love with Genna Monroe for years, but didn't believe she would never look at him as anything other than a friend. When he figures out that Genna overheard his assignation in that New Orleans garden, Nick is amazed to realize that she shows every sign of being aroused. Throwing caution to the wind, he dons a Neptune disguise and approaches Genna. Now, Nick's in a bind. How do you tell a woman you've always loved her and, oh, by the way, you're the secret lover she's been meeting in the dark every week. Sooner or later something's gonna give. Sexy, imaginative and pure fantasy, Nancy Warren's WHISPER calls to every romance reader's secret dream of being swept away by a mysterious lover. While it is helpful to suspend belief while reading this story -- how many brilliant lawyers do you know who can't figure out they're sleeping with their best friend? -- the characters are believable in their respective roles. Genna is a troubled heroine who sees her well-ordered life spiraling out of control as she finds herself in love with two different men. Nick is a desperate hero grabbing a chance at love yet trapped in a lie of his own making. A secondary story line provides a parallel to the hero and heroine's situation. With WHISPER, Nancy Warren has written an exotic yet poignant modern fairy tale to spice up your reading pleasure! TheSchemer

One of the Best 'Blaze' Plots!,
By Genie In A Bottle (United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Whisper (Harlequin Blaze) (Mass Market Paperback)
When Genna Monroe overhears a man murmuring amorously to a potential one night stand, she finds she can't stop thinking about him. She tells Nick, her friend and co-worker, how she heard but didn't see the stranger and how turned on she's been ever since. She has no idea that the person she overheard was, in fact, Nick.
Nick decides to pose as the 'stranger' and invites Genna to a hotel room. With the lights out and disguising his voice, he seduces her and they begin a weekly affair. Nick doesn't know how to - or even if - he should let on that he is that lover. Now he's jealous of...HIMSELF, as Genna still has feelings for who she thinks is this 'other man.'

Provacative Sexy Tale,
By
This review is from: Whisper (Harlequin Blaze) (Mass Market Paperback)
I love Nancy Warren and Whisper is one of my favorite Blaze books by this imaginative author.
The one thing that always stands out in my mind about this book is that while our heroine is in the dark- so to speak- she does not limit her fantasy man to one type. Is he blond? Brunette? Maybe the hunky African American guy in her office..... WOAH! The whole anonymous lover theme is so sexy and the way that our hero and heroine go from fantasy to life is fun to read. The reluctance of Genna to end the fantasy and face the light reminds me quite a bit of the episode on Sex and the City where Samantha's dream fantasy man Smith tells her it is time to be themselves- the ultimate turn-on- Honesty. BRAVO! One for the keeper shelf

exciting contemporary romance,
This review is from: Whisper (Harlequin Blaze) (Mass Market Paperback)
Chicago attorney Genna Monroe hates the company retreat to new Orleans as that excursion interferes with her time schedule to become the youngest partner ever at Donne, Green and Raddison. She wants billable hours not magnolias like those that surround her in this garden. However, when she overhears a sexy encounter, Genna finds her blood stirred by the unseen, but sexy male voice, which she thinks is her colleague Nick Cavallo.Four years ago, Nick met and fell in love with Genna, who has had no time for sex or to realize a man desires her in his life permanently. He now plans to seduce Genna though he knows his idea has several flaws that could backfire especially what happens when the masquerade of the Big Easy ends and they return to wintry Chicago. Still, he will indulge in her fantasy because that will enable him to luxuriate in his own dreams. WHISPER is an exciting contemporary romance heated by Nick an intelligent hunk that all readers will want. Though why he patiently waited four years intelligence gathering like an undercover G2 before making his assault on Genna's impenetrable barriers and controls seems strange. Still when he finally attains the first part of his desires by sharing a bed with Genna, the audience will feel his release. Nancy Warren enflames her fans through her gorgeous male lead who makes the plot a rousing success. Harriet Klausner |
