Love conquers all..., May 31, 2007
This review is from: Whisper Something Sweet (Paperback)
Ms. King-Bey offers an explosive story of romance and eroticism to her readers in Whisper Something Sweet.
Monica "Sweetie" Fuller is a financial analyst who has fallen in love with her company's largest client over the telephone. Sweetie is a free spirited, big hearted woman that is fiercely loyal to those that she loves. This is proven by her first introduction to the reader; as she is about to beat down her best friends abusive boyfriend.
Gabriel is the client who swept Monica off of her feet by his sexy voice and hidden innuendo. Gabriel is so taken by Monica's phone conversation that he hatches a plan to bring them face to face by flying her and her group to meet him. He is more than a little surprised when the plane lands and she is not on it. He makes up his mind then that if she won't come to him, he would go to her.
Upon his arrival, Gabriel heads over to Monica's office to surprise her. Instead he is the one with the surprise when he is greeted by a high maintenance model type woman who is the exact opposite of what he wants or expected to find.
Monica's best friend Tess is sitting at Monica's desk when Gabriel arrives. Gabriel mistakes her for Monica and proceeds to tell her that she looks just like he pictured her. Monica over hears this and is so devastated that she asks Tess to pretend to be her. Meanwhile Gabriel is a little disappointed because he meets the woman introduced to him as Sweetie (the real Monica) and is immediately and magnetically drawn to her.
I am hesitant to continue for fear of telling you how this tale plays out, but I will say that you will be in for a hysterical ride and a real treat for your reading pleasure. Ms. King-Bey has totally outdone herself as she takes her readers on a whirlwind romance from beginning to end. This is most definitely my favorite Deatri King-Bey read and I highly recommend this at the top of everyone's summer reading list. On a side note, I must also commend this author for creating a plus sized protagonist. It is rare that there is a leading lady larger than a size 7 with as much class, confidence and overall charisma as seen in Monica. Kudos.

Dee's Best Work Ever!, June 1, 2007
This review is from: Whisper Something Sweet (Paperback)
I am a big fan of Deatri King-Bey and she has once again made me proud! The story line is wonderful, not too overdone and very well written. I loved her development of the characters: Monica also known as "Sweetie" and Tess, especially Tess. Ms. King-Bey made them human, with all their flaws and their good traits. The male characters were also wonderful and evolved throughout the story in a believable way! Oh, and let's not forget about the steamy love/sex scenes! Those were great! There were a few typos, but nothing major and/or took away from the enjoyment of the book. This is my favorite book of Deatri King-Bey to date! A great read!

Deliciously Sweet Treat, September 17, 2007
This review is from: Whisper Something Sweet (Paperback)
In "Whisper Something Sweet", Mrs. Deatri King-Bey has spun a highly erotic romance for our reading pleasure. This is the third novel I've read by Mrs. King-Bey, and although it's not my favorite, it was still an enjoyable read. "Whisper Something Sweet" is definitely a grab your attention mixture of romance, suspense, some intense & steamy love scenes, not too mention the many real life issues thrown in the mix such as physical abuse, drug dealing, absentee father, overbearing mothers, etc... The characters are well developed and quite memorable. The storyline flows smoothly. And with all the drama in this novel you couldn't possibly get bored. You will find yourself on one heck of an entertaining ride! It will have you LOL, shedding a few tears and then saying, Oh, My..., throughout. This novel gives you not one but two, whirlwind romances. Gabriel and Sweetie's fast-paced love affair kept the pages sizzlin' and then add the fire between Tess and James, it's a miracle the book didn't burst in to flames with all the fiery passion flowing throughout. Gabriel and Sweetie had a very special bond, I enjoyed their relationship. And I love the fact that Mrs. King-Bey made Sweetie a "plus-size" woman, with loads of confidence, charm, class and independence. Gabriel was definitely a handsome, protective, want-to-take charge, but willing to let his lady lead, got it goin'on kind of guy. "Whisper Something Sweet" was a deliciously sweet read!
