5.0 out of 5 stars I find it hard to believe...
That such a wonderful book is out of print! It truly needs to be re-printed.

A malfunction with a computer program built to produce life-like holograms plucked six-foot, sexy, scotsman Hazard McAllister from ghostly apparition to a very real life man.

In his time, he had been branded a murderer and sentenced to death, and his ghost had walked the hallways for years...

I guess I do not get it!! I purchased this book because of all the five star reviews. I expected so much more. Next time I will skip the reviews and choose for myself. I found the leading characters annoying. It was a good story and an excellent idea for a story.

That such a wonderful book is out of print! It truly needs to be re-printed.

A malfunction with a computer program built to produce life-like holograms plucked six-foot, sexy, scotsman Hazard McAllister from ghostly apparition to a very real life man.

In his time, he had been branded a murderer and sentenced to death, and his ghost had walked the hallways for years looking for a way to avenge his honor and prove his innocense. Now, with the helpful accident thanks to Jamie Kent's brilliant brother, he could discover the truth behind the lies that had been spun and clear his name once and for all.

But in doing that he needed Jamie's help.

Jamie Kent grew up terrified of the old house. Every nook and cranny spooked her in some way. Having to come back to the damnable house to aid her ailing but brilliant minded brother made her nervous and jumpy. She'd left behind her work and boyfriend to succeed in helping her brother regain his health. But nothing could have prepared her for the shocking appearence of Hazard McAllister, the ghost she was most deathly afraid of.

Please join me in wishing that this book can come back into print so that many more people can read or re-read this novel. It is on my list of favorites and if I had more than one copy I would send it to anyone who wanted it, for it is truly a well written book. Start to finish. You are not forgotten Patricia, I light a torch in your honor.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this book!, April 22, 2009

Oh my god.. I picked up this book and never put it down. I wasn't sure what to think because it seemed outdated to me, but it turned out to be one of the best books I have read in awhile. I loved the characters. Patricia Simpson did a wonderful job creating a slow build of romance, and the love between Jamie and Hazard seemed real and not over the top like some books. I actually cried at the end of the book because I found myself being completely wrapped up in the book. Overall, GREAT book. I recommend it to anyone who wants to read a great love story.

5.0 out of 5 stars MY 5-STAR REVIEW - 18 YEARS LATER!, August 4, 2011
This review is from: Whisper of Midnight (Kindle Edition)
I read Whisper of Midnight in 1993, as did my Mom. This review venue did not exist "back then" and that's too bad because many people missed out on a wonderfully unique story. Over the past 18 years Mom and I have borrowed and re-borrowed each others' books. They've been packed, unpacked, and re-packed during our many (separate) moves from state to state. Whisper of Midnight NEVER got lost because it was one of the books we special-packed to know exactly where it would be and easily accessed.

Mom is 84 now and has Alzheimer's-Dementia but still loves to read - and to this day, she still remembers the storyline. She has forgotten the title and author, but in testimony to the endearing nature of the book and it's characters, she has NEVER forgotten Hazard McAllister!

She remembers the story of the closeness of a quiet-type, computer-genius brother and his sister.... a wild storm, flashing lights, a bang-up computer malfunction .... and the specimen of manhood who likes woman and posing for after shave commercials - Hazard McAllister.

Every year we make it a point to re-read some of our "special" books, and we put our initials and date in front. Whisper of Midnight has many, many entries!

I'll wrap it up and add that the story ends well despite the brother's fatal car crash. But for now I must go .... Mom just asked me to get Hazard McAllister off the bookshelf!

5.0 out of 5 stars Action, Suspense, Romance and a sexy Scot!, June 19, 2011

t is the story of Hazard, a brawny Scotsman accused of murder in his time. Jamie first saw Hazard when she was 10 years old, after her parents had died in a car accident. She grew up thinking her house was haunted, everyone else thought she was a bit crazy. Jamie's brother Mark, was a physicist that had developed a hologram program that brought the ghost, Hazard, back from the dead.

Jamie and Hazard gradually fall in love. There is a some action, romance, suspense and humor woven through the story.

One of my favorite line from the story was:"Ach, look here, Jamie. The machine's a Macintosh. A bonny Scot brought me back, wouldn't ye know!"

I have read a few books in the past but I wouldn't put paranormal romance was on the top of my fav list until this book (Thanks to Amazon/kindle and their vast selections). Although I found the beginning part of the story a bit far fetched as to how Hazard materialized out of thin air, the rest were purely wonderful read. The adventure was non-stop and the romance was incredible! I could almost visualize the series of events that took place in this book. For the romantic readers out there, get this book, you will thoroughly enjoy this book. I was glad to make the choice to download this onto my kindle. Thank you Ms. Simpson for sharing this incredible story with us. I had wished it to end longer.
