5.0 out of 5 stars An interesting history of settlement of San Bernardino Mts., July 21, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Whispering Waters: Historic Weesha and the Settling of Southern California (Paperback)
The book is a brief history of the settling of the San Bernardino mountains (and Southern California in general) which traces the intrusion of man into the area from pre-history to modern times. The primary focus of the book is the establishment and history of the Weesha Country Club. Contrary to it's name, the Weesha Club is a social and recreational club which sits astride the Santa Ana River in San Bernardino County, California. The club was originally formed to acquire and maintain a former homestead for the enjoyment of the members and their families. The authors' research included review of historical archives, interviews with surviving family members of the original founding families, oral histories and contributions by current club members. The result of their work is an interesting compilation of historical fact, local lore and colorful annecdotes. It's suggested reading for students of California history
