About the Author

David Harrington lives in Chula Vista, California and has a long-term interest in the mysteries of household magic.

A student of the sacred sciences since childhood, deTraci Regula explores the mystical through writing, dreams, and art.  She has been a Priestess of Isis with the Fellowship of Isis since 1983.  With David Harrington, she is the co-author of the upcoming biography of their friend Scott Cunningham, Whispers of the Moon.  In addition to work in the animation industry on such secular epics as the animated version of Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, she also produced and directed the video programs Herb Magic with Scott Cunningham and Witchcraft: Yesterday and Today with Raymond Buckland.  She has traveled to sacred sites in Turkey, China, Japan, and Britain, as well as the United States.

When not writing, deTraci Regula practices Taoist painting and exploring the family geneaology.  Named for her ancestor William deTraci, deTraci Regula comes from a long line of pagans and freethinkers.  One of her ancestors was chastised by the local bishop for "consorting magically with the horses," though what that means exactly has been mysteriously excised from the family histories.  Another ancestor, a Protestant during the reign of the Catholic Queen, "Bloody" Mary, was dug up and burned as a heretic after his death because of certain comments he made in his last will and testament.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very well written biography about one of the best!, August 15, 1999

This review is from: Whispers of the Moon: The Life and Work of Scott Cunningham (Paperback)
This book goes into the life of Scott Cunningham, explaining where his beliefs came from, and why he was the man he was. It is a touching look at a brilliant man. Scott has influenced many new Wiccans on a solitary path, letting them know that you don't need a Coven to be a Wiccan.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful book, June 4, 2000

This review is from: Whispers of the Moon: The Life and Work of Scott Cunningham (Paperback)
Written with many personal stories of Scott's and his friends', it details Mr. Cunningham's life from birth to how his death affected the Pagan community. I found this book very complete and informative about a man I admire deeply and whose work helped lead me to the path I follow today. Most of all, it showed how Scott was human like the rest of us. He was humble, loved the Goddess deeply, and wanted his work to be the best it could possibly be. The recounting of his death is particularly touching and handled well.

A section of photographs show Scott at various times in his life including photos of Hawaii, a board game he created, and his books. The book ends with the complete text of his booklet "A Formula Book of Magical Incenses and Oils", a complete list of his writings, Cunningham's astrological chart, and notes from one of his workshops. If you are a fan of Cunningham's work, do yourself a favor and pick this book up to learn more about this great man and his life.

4.0 out of 5 stars good, September 10, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Whispers of the Moon: The Life and Work of Scott Cunningham (Paperback)
This book was a touching biography of Scott Cunningham, and I found myself finishing it the same day I got it. Scott Cunningham is, without a doubt, my favorite Wiccan author, and after reading this book, I can't but help feeling sad because I never had the opportunity to meet him. The pictures in the book are beautiful and touching, and you get a better feel for what kind of person he was by them. That having been said, I felt that the book could've been longer than it was. Scott Cunningham was such an incredible person and I'm sure has touched the lives of an endless number of people (myself included), that I don't think any biographical book would've done him justice. It is still a good read, and very touching. It's very obvious that he was well-loved by a lot of people.
