5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome
This book is excellent. It shows how love can grow through adversity. A great read, I have read it about 3 or 4 times, and I'm sure I'll be reading it again soon. Its one of my favourite Lori Wick books.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nothing Too Surprising Here, June 18, 2002
In the second book of the "Rocky Mountain Memories" series, Lori Wick has crafted a romance with a few different twists than "Where The Wild Rose Blooms" (the first book in her series). "Whispers of Moonlight" is the story of Rebecca, a 19-year-old who goes out West in 1870 to live with her father after being separated from him for most of her childhood. When she arrives at her father's ranch, she meets his foreman, Travis, who she quickly falls in love with. When Rebecca's father Andrew is on his deathbed, he asks Travis to marry Rebecca, since he wants to know that Rebecca is protected and loved. After their less-than-normal marriage, Rebecca runs away since she mistakenly believes that Travis married her just to gain her father's ranch. Years later, under dramatically different circumstances, Rebecca returns. Travis still loves her, but Rebecca must decide whether or not her hesitance to be loved and her disagreement with Travis' newfound faith in Christ will stand in the way of his love. If you like Lori Wick you will probably like this story. There were definitely some good things about it. First, I really liked how it wasn't a perfect, predictable romance. The obstacles that were faced throughout the book made the hopeful (but not perfect) ending all the better. I guess you could say this is one of Lori's more realistic romances. It was also neat to see the changes in Travis when he accepted Christ, and I enjoyed "meeting up" with characters from the previous book in this series. Two stars were deducted for two reasons. First, Lori's writing and descriptions need some work since they sound unnatural and "hokey" sometimes. Second, the story had some "slow" parts when Rebecca wasn't living with Travis and focused on some romances that really didn't interest the reader during that time as well. Still, anyone who enjoys a sweet, cutesy Christian romance will enjoy "Whispers of Moonlight."

4.0 out of 5 stars Good at points, bad at points., January 2, 2003
By A Customer
The first point was very unexpected. I noticed that some events that happened in Book 1 also occurred in Book 2. When I think of a series, I think it is a continuous story. But, I will see what the other books in this series have to offer. There are also some slow times in this book, especially in Pine Grove. But, they are critical to the book because they let you in on feelings of Rebecca and Travis. I also didn't care for the ending too much. I was expecting something dramatic. The ending left several points open - will they be covered in the next book or will the next book have some of the same special events like Book 2 did after Book 1? Overall, it was a good book with a fairly happy ending.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible!, December 26, 1999

This book was phenominal! Lori Wick showed the true complexity of the human personality in her characters. The dramatic change in Travis and the struggle that went on in Rebecca's soul clearly put on paper what my heart was feeling. Of course, to fully understand all the characters in the book, you have to read the entire series but Whispers of Moonlight simply alone is still phenominal! I would definately recommend this book to any and all of my friends!

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved It!, October 5, 2002

I absolutely loved this book even though there was one part I really didn't care for. That shows how much I enjoyed it. I believe Lori overdid it in the middle when Rebecca was raising the twins and was still apart from Travis, although I did feel it was quite cleverly written. I truly enjoyed reading and seeing how Rebecca changed and grew as a person after she returned home to Travis. I do highly recommend this. It is truly one of a kind.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enchanting, and full of the love of God., July 7, 1999
By
Wispers of Moonlight was excellent. Lori Wick certainly knows how to portray God, they way she sees Him. The way that the characters in this book were so filled with the Holy Spirit was wonderful to see. The plot was good, although quite exhausting when the main characters never really met head on with their problems and openly discussed them. I think it was really wrong for Rebecca to leave the way she did, and I liked the way Travis searched for her. They should have talked before such big mistakes were made, but I think the time away from each other did them good. It gave Rebecca room to grow and Travis had time to change before having Rebecca back. I think this book is really wonderful, and I recommend it to any one who really wants to see God's love and the way it works in our lives.

3.0 out of 5 stars Where was the love???, September 4, 2011

The best thing about this book was Travis' love for his sons and the way Lori Wick ingeniously wove book 1 and book 2 together...

But I must admit that I absolutely HATED Rebecca! In my opinion, Travis should have bent her over his knee and given her a solid spanking. THEN if that had no effect, he should have sent her packing!!!

I tell you, Rebecca is one of the most selfish people I've ever read about! She thinks on about Rebecca! I agree that what her father forced her to do was wrong. He knew there was chemistry between Travis and Rebecca and, like his daughter, was selfish and insisted they marry. Travis may have been wrong in agreeing to go along with it. I also thought it was CRUEL of her father to force her to be intimate with Travis when she was not ready...

But when Rebecca ran away, she was being very selfish and did not give Travis the respect he so richly deserved! Then she treated Travis like crap when he finally found her. SHE contacted him then acted like he was this horrible monster when he showed up! She had robbed Travis of his sons for five years. She had absolutely NO right to tell Travis what he can and cannot do with HIS sons! She spoiled them rotten, then got mad when her husband tried to discipline them! Shame on HER!!!

I love how Travis described her treatment of him - like a play toy - she treated him good one minute, then took all her anger and frustration out on HIM! I kept wondering when Travis was going to lay down the law, and I am certainly glad he did! She did NOT love him; and at times I wonder if she even loved her children!!!

This was an okay book...when it wasn't focusing on "poor Rebecca" who's sons at times seemed to display more maturity than her!!!
