Music is very distracting from spoken word!,
By Frederick W. Horton III (Lilburn, GA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Whispers of Now (Audio CD)
The spoken word is great, but the music is absolutely distracting! Rather than enhance the mood of the spoken word, the music does just the opposite--irritate, rather than calm. I felt like I was at a jazz concert. I returned the CD and I would say save your money.

Yuk!,
This review is from: Whispers of Now (Audio CD)
I would not recommend this CD. I found it to be really cheezy!
I was expecting words by Eckhart (in his voice) The female voice emphasizes every word in a sickening new age tone. The music is electronic and irritating! To sum it up....yuk. I couldn't even get through it once.

I agree with another reviewer -- the high-strung "music" is very distracting and set my nerves on edge.(This was supposed to be relaxing?) I was expecting some soothing and ethereal music which would go with Tolle's affirmations. But in order to really hear the affirmations, one must turn the volume up so loud that the music hurts the ears. What a disappointment! Recommend you listen to excerpts before you buy. (I made the mistake of not doing this.)

Positive Listening,
By Jan (Florida) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Whispers of Now (Audio CD)
No, this is not representative of the book - if you're looking for a lecture, save your money. What this IS, is taking powerful essence statements in spoken form from Eckardt Tolle's book and putting them to music. I have all of them - 2 for the Four Agreements, Raja Yoga's Whispers of Spirit, Deepak's Whispers of Healing and the Whisper CD from Chicken Soup only purchased because I like all the others so much. Each time I listen I capture either a new statement or hear a familiar statement differently. They are second only to Search for Serenity in allowing a peaceful change in perception for the better.

Whispers of now,

Waste of money, terrible, it annoys me instead of empowering me to be in the present. Not a good representation of the book, "The Power of Now". Save your money.

Different and Powerful,

I give this 5 stars for what it is, not for what I, at first, thought it should be. Yes, this is not your typical meditation cd, and the title, Whispers of Now, initially at least, seems misleading. But by the time I heard the second or third track, I was hooked. I've been working with some powerful affirmations on my own and this music just seemed right for where I am right now. I found the music, though not my usual choice of styles, was powerful and energizing and reinforced the affirmations I've been working with, and I very much like the affirmations included on the tracks. I listen to it while driving and find it uplifting and invigorating. (I probably wouldn't listen to it in tough driving conditions or doing work that requires focus, but it's good during those trips, or doing work, when you can be almost on autopilot.) Don't listen to this when you want to relax and recharge, listen to it when you want something empowering. Let's face it, sometimes you want to listen to rock or upbeat music of your choice, and sometimes you want to listen to something soothing and relaxing. But you're not going to dis your upbeat music because it's not soothing. So, allow this album to do what it was meant to do - give you powerful affirmations with a strong musical reinforcement.

Music inappropriate,
By Pamela (Rogers, AR) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Whispers of Now (Audio CD)
The music for these wonderful affirmations is so loud and a fast beat it is difficult to even hear the speaker. A nice flute playing softly (or anything slow and soft) would have been much better. I played "..The Thinker..." one as a pre-meditation for my Yoga class and it was anything BUT pre-meditation. I might just make my own CD for private use ... same words, but nicer BACKGROUND music.

no thanks,

I will continue to purchase Mr Tolle's audio CDs and Books but will pass on this jazzed up version of his teachings. What a contradiction of "Entering the Silence"

What a great CD. I read "The Power of Now" and this CD really helps to keep the message of the book alive for me. Sometimes I just listen to the music and sometimes I "tune in" more to the words. Very cool idea.

something new,
By A Customer

I really liked "Whispers of Now" both for the music and the concept. Affirmations from "The Power of Now" are mixed into very melodic and spirited new age music. Every time I listen I hear something new.
