5.0 out of 5 stars A Most Enjoyable Book!, July 23, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Whispers from the Past (Charmed) (Mass Market Paperback)
Whispers From The Past in my opinion was a well written book. While I was reading the book I felt like I was a ghostly character observing what was going on. The book takes you right away into the story. One of the reasons why I enjoyed reading this book so much because Phoebe was sent back in time to Salem, Mass. during the "Witch Hunt" times. I enjoy stories that deal with time travel. I was a little shocked about how Prue and Piper were behaving in the present they were bringing out their "Bad" sides but not by their choice, but by that slimy evil demon. The author captured the sisters very well and added a nice twist on Prue's and Piper's change of behavoir. If you like Charmed this would be a book for you. I would highly reccomend this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars A cool novel based on the show., May 27, 2000
This review is from: Whispers from the Past (Charmed) (Mass Market Paperback)
Whispers from the Past was an excellant addition to the Charmed series, based on the TV show. Phoebe is battling a demon when she is sucked back in time to Puritan Massachusetts. She's now trapped in a time where witches were condemned to death. She needs to free her ancestor from the demon's spell in order to get help. Meanwhile back in the present, her sisters Prue and Piper are being turned evil, due to the demon's influence. I highly reccomend this novel to fans of the show. It remains faithful to the characterizations and gives a cool story that would have made a nice episode.

Okay, I so totally LOVED this book! The way it's written is so good! Phoebe being sucked into time, back to 1676's Salem, Massachussetts, and Prue and Piper turning evil. Crazy! Sometimes I wished they would turn one of those Charmed books into an episode! Cuz this book would definitely apply for it! READ IT!

p.s. AND ALL THE OTHERS TOO!

5.0 out of 5 stars Three Witchy Women, September 7, 2000
This review is from: Whispers from the Past (Charmed) (Mass Market Paperback)
Charmed: Whispers from the Past was a great book. Rosalind Noonan nicely captured the personalities of Prue, Piper, and Phoebe. The story follows Phoebe, who has been sucked back in time to Salem Massachusetts in the year 1676: the witch trial days. She has to dodge suspicious villagers, vanquish a demon, avoid altering the future, and contact her sisters to bring her back to present day San Fransico. This is the first Charmed book I have read and I really enjoyed it. I look forward to reading other titles in this series.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great book.....with a few mistakes, July 7, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Whispers from the Past (Charmed) (Mass Market Paperback)
I really loved this book, and it is DEFINATELY worth reading. But there were a few errors that bugged me. In the original book "Power of Three" and also the episode "Something Wicca Is Coming This Way" it stated that Melinda Warren imigranted to America with her only daughter CASSANDRA, not Prudence, and interestingly enough, Prudence's daughter was named Cassandra. In the book it said that Prudence was Melinda's daughter. And secondly, the evil slime who tried to make Prudence jealous and tried to seduce Phoebe, Hugh Montgomery, well, Hugh Montgomery was Melinda's lover who betrayed her to the townspeople (also stated in "Power of Three, and "Something Wicca Coming This Way)! Obviously the author was confused/had not seen the first episode of Charmed/neglected to read the book "Power Of Three". Without the mistakes, this book is fun, and enjoyable, and is woth your time

4.0 out of 5 stars Charmed: Whispers from the Past, February 28, 2003
By

This review is from: Whispers from the Past (Charmed) (Mass Market Paperback)
Whispers from the Past is the fourth book in the Charmed book series. This book is written by Rosalind Noonan. The story is about Prue, Piper, and Phoebe and how they defeat a demon that is trying to kill Phoebe. The twist is that Phoebe was taken centuries into the past. There is no way that she can get a hold of her sisters to tell them what happened or even that she is alive. In the present time, Prue and Piper think that they have lost their sister for good. Meanwhile something is turning Prue and Piper evil.
This book was very enjoyable because it gives people the chance to see the characters in a new light. You get to read about Prue and Piper as they become evil because of a demon. They do things that they would never do otherwise. "Prue slapped a twenty-dollar bill into the palm if the delivery guy and slammed the heavy front door in his face. She had no patience for niceties like hello and goodbye." Prue would never act like that unless she was under a curse or spell.

The other thing I liked about this book is that the story was written in an interesting style. The book has detailed parts that are important to the story. Other parts that just help tie the story together were not stretched out to slow down the reading. "The three Charmed Ones moved around the bushes and forged ahead. Prue struggled to keep herself from shaking." That quote shows that their is just enough detial to get the point across but not to much to over explain this less important part of the story.
My favorite part of the book is when Piper and Prue cast a spell to save Phoebe. The spell went like this, "A trace of paternity. Clothing so dear, a lock of hair to track far and near. Find our Phoebe, point the way. Track her spirit, find her today." The spell doesn't work so they try to edit it and see if that will work. I enjoyed this part because is shows how the sister care for each other even though they fight sometimes. That really teahes a lesson to the reader. To find out what other interesting things happen in the rest of the book read it because it is worth your time.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Magic continues..., August 24, 2000
This review is from: Whispers from the Past (Charmed) (Mass Market Paperback)
Wow... How is it possible that every Charmed book can get better each time I read one... This is a "Phoebe" book. But the Prue and Piper B-story is also good. Just a real great book, couldn't put it down. These books read in a day or two, you just can't stop once you get started...

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent book, August 15, 2000

I love the TV show so I thought the book was great too. It kind of reminded me of a couple of episodes that had to with the past except for Phoebe was really living in the 1600's during the Salem witch trials. That made the book so much better. I can't wait to read more books. I just wish they could release them as fast I read them!

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't Run From the Past!!, May 31, 2003
This review is from: Whispers from the Past (Charmed) (Mass Market Paperback)
This has got to be one of my favorite 'Charmed' books ever. It's a new spin on the Salem Witch Trials when Phoebe Halliwell gets transported back in time to old Salem.

As she's back in time, a strange thing occurs in the present: her sisters, Prue and Piper, are beginning to turn evil. Not only that, but their beloved Book of Shadows is starting to have dark magick spells in it as well.

If you like 'Charmed' and like to read about the Salem Witch Trials like I do, then this book is a must-read!

pheobe has been sent into the past by an evil demon with no way
to let her sisters know where she is. she is also in a time where
being a witch or even being diffrent could mean your death. her
sisters are also feeling diffrent. somehow they are being turned
evil and they need to find the connection between that and phoebe's disappearance before evil takes over for good.
