Book Description

If it can kill you-- how can it be love?

When Evie Parker meets Lucas Spencer she begins to feel hope again. Lately she's been going through life in a fog and Lucas is all about teaching her how to have fun again. For the first time since the accident she knows what it means to be happy.

So who cares if Lucas is a little odd. It isn't that strange that she's never met his parents, or that teachers never seem to notice when he's late for class. Evie tries not to care, but on top of all his peculiar behavior she's been feeling kind of sick lately-- ever since she met Lucas actually.

When Lucas decides it is time to come clean with all his secrets Evie has to make some hard decisions.

4.0 out of 5 stars A GREAT read for anyone who loves Paranormal Romance December 29, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
(I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review)
When I read the Summary to this book, I was excited to read it. Another thing that made me excited was that it's a Volume which means there's more stories to come. I also knew there would be a GOOD Cliffhanger at the end and boy, was there. =)
In the beginning of the story, you learn about Evie and what she's gone through and what she is still going through. She lives with her Grandmother after she lost her parents to a car accident. It's not a happy life for poor Evie. All I wanted to do was go through the book and hug her. She had been through so much and her Grandmother is definitely not a very caring person to her. I just wanted to slap her to wake her up.
Evie goes walking in the woods and one day she meets Lucas in the woods who she never thought would change her world. Lucas ends up making her life more exciting and fulfilling. Although, in the mean time, Evie is changing drastically...and she has no idea why she's feeling so ill. She also feels that Lucas is being very odd. She doesn't understand what is going on and she wants to get to the bottom of it all. She knows something is different with Lucas.
I absolutely adore Lucas in the story. He made Evie feel again which for any guy who can make a girl happy and make her realize happiness is out there...is definitely a GREAT guy.
I like how T.J. Dell writes a different paranormal romance. She brings heartache, happiness and confusion all together.
She writes two main characters who I fell in love with automatically. I felt sorry for Evie and even Lucas at certain parts of the story. When Lucas had to tell Evie his secret, I felt she took it out of proportion. Poor guy, didn't know what would happen.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great cliffhanger! February 11, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
After having regaled myself with "Her best friend's brother" by T.J Dell, I wanted to read her other books. I was interested in "Whispers in the woods" because the story was totally different from the first novel. The main theme seemed more secret, more supernatural and it intrigued me.

I liked this book even if the story is quite short. Throughout the pages, I made assumptions about Lucas. I expected the conversation rejected, time afyer time, by Evie so impatiently ... I think it was the effect intended by the author. Well done!

I was totally blown away by the final outcome! So, by learning the truth about Lucas, I found the revelation too adorable. There was a fragile, engaging and romantic side to Lucas that made ''me melt. Even if I knew the distance and the barriers erected by Evie were necessary to protect herself and accept the situation, I was also sorry for the young man.

Therefore, at the end of the book, I was disappointed to learn that this novel was published in December 2011 and that I was going to have to wait to know the further adventures of Lucas and 'Evie.
But today, when I wanted to review this novel, I've found the second volume... Someone will spend a great time reading this sunday! Can't wait...

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect romance! October 10, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I received a complimentary copy of Whispers in the woods for read 2 review, but in in no way effects my honest review!

Whenever I begin a book, I know within the first few pages, if this book is the one....you know the one. The book that will hold my interest so much, that I put off other, "must do's" in order to read just "one more page". Or the one that keeps me up at night when its long past my bedtime, or the one that has me thinking about it through my daily activities during the day.

The One, does not happen alot. I mean there are good stories, great reads...but they aren't the one...well, Whispers In The Woods for me was one of the ones...books that hit the spot!;O)

I received the book for review and it seemed so harmless...I had no idea that I would get sucked into the adventure the way I did. Whispers In the Woods follow Evie and Lucas. Evie who recently lost her parents comes to live with her grandmother, who for better words, doesn't want her. So Evie is trying to make it through each day. Her main solace is walking in the woods near her home, and one day, there she meets Lucas. Funny, attentive and extrememly handsome Lucas! Upon first impression she believes he's a little older than she, but he's such a great listener, she finds herself pouring out her lifestory. Embarrassed slightly, but happy to have met him. Lucas and Evie part ways. The next school day, Evie sees Lucas at school, instantly she realizes that he appears younger and that she is shocked that she never noticed him at her school before. Soon the two are inseperable, and where she was once the loner, now being with Lucas who is a people magnet, she gains some friends as well.

4.0 out of 5 stars Predictable... and then I was wrong :-) February 26, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I will start by saying this was a fun and easy read. I enjoyed the way the book flowed and it captured my interest from the first page all the way through to the last.

While reading this story, I kept thinking it was predictable and I knew exactly where it was going. I was right about one thing...out of a hundred! T.J. did a great job building her characters though I think with the next book, I'll get to know them even better. I'll definitely be purchasing the next book tonight! Thanks T.J. and keep them coming!
