Book Description

October 2, 2012 Shadow Falls (Book 4)

Shadow Falls Camp is back in session with the most explosive installment yet.  A shocking new threat will rock Shadow Falls—changing it forever and altering Kylie’s journey in ways she never imagined.

Even at a camp for supernatural teens, Kylie Galen has never been normal. Not only can she see ghosts, but she doesn’t seem to belong to any one species—she exhibits traits from them all. As Kylie struggles to unlock the secrets of her identity, she begins to worry that Lucas will never be able to accept her for what she is, and what she isn’t…a werewolf.  With his pack standing in their way, Kylie finds herself turning more and more to Derek, the only person in her life who’s willing to accept the impossible.

As if life isn’t hard enough, she starts getting visits from the ghost of Holiday, her closest confidante.  Trouble is, Holiday isn’t dead…not yet anyway.  Now Kylie must race to save one of her own from an unseen danger before it’s too late—all while trying to stop her relationship with Lucas from slipping away forever.   In a world of constant confusion, there’s only one thing Kylie knows for sure.  Change is inevitable and all things must come to an end…maybe even her time at Shadow Falls.

The breathtaking fourth installment of the New York Times bestselling Shadow Falls series from author C. C. Hunter...Whispers at Moonrise.

4.0 out of 5 stars Live To Read ~Krystal January 10, 2013
Format:Paperback
Although I did not read the first three books in the series, Whispers at Moonrise is one of the best books I've read in quite some time. Kylie Galen is an excellent main character. She embodies the highs and lows of being a teen. The family problems and boy troubles she faces are like those any girl could come across, but the paranormal issues Kylie has are less typical.
Kylie has been living at a camp for supernatural teens and will soon be attending a boarding school with her peers. Among Kylie's friends are a witch, vampire, werewolf, fairy, and shapeshifter. It would be expected that Kylie would belong to one of those species, however, Kylie is different. She is a chameleon; Kylie expresses traits of all the supernatural species and must learn to control her abilities.
Adding to the difficulties of mastering her powers is the fact that someone wants her dead and a different someone is after her best friend, Holiday. Kylie is going to have to use every ounce of her strength and wit to overcome the obstacles she faces in Whispers at Moonrise.
C.C. Hunter's novel is a good read for teen girls. It has romance, action, and mystery, a mix that is sure to attract female high school students. Hunter's writing style is fun and descriptive. I appreciate that she uses teen slang and gave each character a unique personality. Everyone in the novel is interesting and stands out. I give this novel four out of five stars.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good! October 6, 2012
Format:Paperback
Kylie knows what she is now, but not what it means. She's a chameleon? She's a lizard? She has no idea what's going on now and has more questions than answers. And to add to that, why did that ghost have Holly's face? Holly isn't dead yet...but does that just mean that she will? (ok, so there's a spoiler in my review which means if you don't want to know this tiny spoiler, avoid all paragraphs with a *) Not to mention that even though Kylie's finally chosen Lucas, she can't deny her feelings for Derek or that Lucas is hot one second, cold the next. What's a not-so-human girl to do?

*I think this was definitely my favorite book out of all of them. It was different in the way that it wasn't action-y and was more a mystery. This was basically the book where most of our questions were answered while at the same time, Kylie and the rest of the gang were trying to figure out who killed Holiday's twin sister. And jeez! They went one some awesome traces/leads and I loved guessing who killed her, why, and everything else. As morbid as it sounds, this was definitely my kind of book!

What I didn't like? I didn't get why Kylie didn't tell Holiday about the ghost with her face. It just seemed weird. I mean, sure it would've scared her but Holiday had the right to know plus it would've been easier and faster to figure out why the ghost had her face if Holiday had known. It just really annoyed me to hell and back. But hey, that only lasted 1/3 of the book!

While Kylie was a little annoying when it came to romance in the beginning you'll eventually forgive her when it's clear she's literally torn apart between her feelings for Derek and the ones she has for Lucas. I mean, they're both awesome guys and honestly? While I'm Team Lucas, I did fall for Derek.

Whew, this book took me on a heck of a ride, emotionally. I loved it more than I can even say.
I am a huge fan of the Shadow Falls series, and had waited too long to read this, (Ok I did the Audible audio book thing with my Kindle purchase) and if it wasn't for being able to listen to it on Audible, I would still be waiting. As I would be able to listen while doing housework, or other tasks that I could not do while reading, lol. I have so many tour books to read, I have to read them every-time I can actually read. Anyway, so happy I was able to do this.

Fans of Shadow Falls will love this book, its funny how the series gets better and better, if that's even possible.
I do not want to spoil anything, so will keep this short.

I will say, I was disappointed to not get more of Derek, as he is my favorite guy by far, and I always thought he should be the one Kylie to be with, but after what Lucas does to Kylie, I really believe it even more. He is a JERK. Will not say more, if you read it, you will know why. If not, better get too it. lol.

I loved how Kylie got to discover more on her powers and what it means to be what she is. I wont mention that either, as I worry someone will read this who had not read the last book at least, that spilled the big answer to what kind of supernatural Kylie is.

Its a journey for sure, and will keep you enthralled from the start. I know it did me.

5 out of 5 stars for me. LOVED it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another good read in the series! February 23, 2013
By K.
Format:Paperback
Another great book in this terrific series! Still loads of intrigue! New levels added as Kylie finally finds out what she is but still tying to determine what it means.

Back at Shadow Falls camp we are still dealing with ghosts, identity crisis and love triangles. Even though this is much the same as earlier books in the series I found it interesting and entertaining. If you have gone this far with a series it is because you have found something to like, and this book holds all the elements I enjoyed in previous books.

The mystery this time was a little harder to crack. So many suspects. And Kylie went a touch angsty at a few times in this book. I can not wait for the next book to come out! I need to know how it will all end!!

I really dig this authors writing style and the wonderful characters she has created. I will be sad for the series to end with the next book but happy to have the answers to burning questions.
