perfect kettle whistle replacement,
By
This review is from: Bird Whistle for Alessi Michael Graves Kettle
One day in a second-hand store I saw a handsome stainless steel teakettle for $3, which I bought because I liked the lines. (It wasn't an Alessi; lt was less angular and more traditionally spherical. I later discovered that it was a Lagostina, and cost about $200 new.) I never used it until one day the electricity went out--the best reason not have an electric stove--and I was reduced to boiling water on my trusty gas stove.
Being absentminded, of course I wandered out of the kitchen lost in a good book and let the kettle boil dry, because it didn't have a whistle to alert me it was boiling. So I went on the internet in search of one--they are hard to find. Eventually I located the stylish Alessi Bird whistle (Availible in the original red; but also in yellow/orange, and white), and it actually fit and looked splendid on the Lagostina kettle. Even if it hadn't, I liked it and would have shaved it down to fit. The bird whistle is whimsically elegant, and effective in reminding me to take the boiling kettle off the flame. I recommend this whistle IF it fits your narrow-spout kettle.

This item was received very quickly after ordering. It is a replacement for a different kettle so the fit isn't perfect. Nevertheless, when pushed on snugly, it works fine.

Replacement Birdie,

Years ago my husband accidentally melted the little red birdie from the top of my favorite tea pot that I've enjoyed since 1989. Finally, I got around to ordering the replacement piece. It fits perfectly & is the exact color of the red in the handle. Now my birdie sings when the kettle is ready.

Received the kettle over 20 years ago for my bridal shower. Used it everyday, thru the years the poor little bird was left next to the fire too long, lost a wing, tail cracked but it still tweeted. It finally fell apart and I was looking at new kettles. Was very happy that you can replace the little birdie, now my kettles like new!!!

Very disappointed.....why have a bird on the whistle if it doesn't sound like a bird??????
It's just a plain old whistle...What a phony!!!!!! Phony bird!!! Michael Graves people should make that clear in advertisements...... The bird is just an ornament....not reflective of any kind of bird sounds.....

Doesn't sound like a bird, cheap plastic, even cheaper little metal spring clip to hold it in. We thought this kettle and "bird" whistle would be as high-end as the price. Just a rip-off. My old Revereware kettle is back on the stove. This thing didn't last two weeks,... again. You have to pull it out, with hot steam gushing out, before you can pour the water. After a few pots you will toss it if it hasn't broken. zero stars
