The Whistler Laser/Radar Detector has been very reliable in alerting us to potential speed traps as we have traveled down the highways; I am very pleased with it so far!!! Thanks Amazon for shipping it to me so quick!!!! I really need that device here in central Georgia!!!!!!!!

I gave this to my friend that drives three hours commuting almost three times a month. She loved this gift when I gave it to her. She told me the other day that she loves it and uses it all the time. It alerts her to slow down when coming close to an officer. I suggest this to anyone thinking of getting it as a gift or for yourself!

Only false alarms,

I bought this so I could know in advance if there are radars on the street. I live in Brazil and in my city there are far too many mobile radars (they put them in tripods behind trees or inside vans to hide them from spotting). So I gave this Whistler a try. What a mistake. This thing never gets one right alert. Always gives false alarms (when there is nothing) or keeps quiet (when there is a radar). I did several tests when I found one hidden radar and the thing never made a beep. Later I was able to see that the radar was a laser gun on a tripod, about 2 feet above the street (in height). So it was on the same height as the license plates, making it more difficult to get a warning from the Whistler. But I would expect that at least once the Whistler would brake silence, but no. I even stopped the car and removed the Whistler from the dash and got out of the vehicle pointing it in front of the laser gun but it was only silence. It simply does not work. I checked the configuration to see if Laser was on, changed it to off and then on again, nothing. Dead quiet, mute! On the other hand it is well built and small. If only it worked then it would be a nice gadget. So in summary, if you want a nicely built and small peace of junk, then this is the one for you.

Got pulled over in WI and it didn't make a peep! Also, I have seen many other troopers clocking speed in all three states and the detector made no sound. It does work with local and county cops.

The charger cord has a loose wire or something, will only connect occasionally after much fiddling. Also the unit does not stay on the bracket on the windshield, slides off and I had to rig it with some tape. The unit itself works fine, the accessories are a nuisance.

This detector is not a good model. I was expecting more than what I got. It alerts every few seconds to anything. You have to reset the City/Highway mode each time you start it up and it only have audiable alerts that are not discernable, the readout is so small that you cant tell what type of alert you are getting. It has not alerted me to an actual police radar yet.
