5.0 out of 5 stars Authentically spiritual music
If you're looking for authentic native indian music, this is the right choice. I was buying this cd in a hopi village in Arizona and a hopi woman suggested it to me. "White Buffalo" is a kind of music that heals by itself, you can find inner peace, strenght and hope while you listen to Robert Tree Cody's music. This artist transmit the essence of the native american music which is totally connected with the earth, the sacred nature. This music helps us to understand that we have a place in earth as a part of a unique living being.

5.0 out of 5 stars Music to Give Birth To!, April 23, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: White Buffalo (Audio CD)
This is a wonderful cd! We recieved it as a gift and I found it so calming that I brought it to my daughter's birth. I spent my whole time in labor listening to this cd. I brought about 20 cd's to the birth but would not let my husband put on any others. I just kept saying "again, again." The flute music, vocals and natural sounds helped me to focus and stay in a meditative state, there was nothing incongruous or annoying about any of the tracks. We still use this cd often as it has a special place in our hearts and is still relaxing, beautiful, spiritual music. Thank you Robert Tree Cody for an awesome cd!
I highly reccomend this cd for anyone looking for native american music.

4.0 out of 5 stars mood setting, October 1, 2006
This review is from: White Buffalo (Audio CD)
I recently purchased this CD while on a vacation in Custer State Park in South Dakota. With the car windows opened and this music quietly playing I slowly drove through this sacred countryside. It enriched my entire experience. Now home I find it a perfect accent to my daily life.

3.0 out of 5 stars It isn't bad music, too much drum, synthesizer for my tastes, June 13, 2005

I bought this CD because of the high ratings and because I'd heard Mr. Tree Cody's work with Hovia Edwards on the CD "Reflections".
It isn't too bad an album but I found the drums & synthesizer stuff too be a little too intrusive on many selections. I really wanted to hear flute playing.
Some of the more interesting selections include #8 Brother Quetzaquatl, it sounded like a tin, not cedar, flute with drums. #11 Elk Medicine was one of the better tunes, almost authentic sounding with some some drums and chanting, there was some syntesizer stuff in it too.
Mr. Tree Cody's wife Marlene sang (not in English) through much of #12 Quiltmaker's song but I wasn't greatly interested otherwise.
At 7 minutes, 32 seconds #13 Thunder Beings was the longest selection, it had a lot of thunder sounds, some drums and chanting, the flute music didn't even come in until around 2 1/2 minutes into it.
Not bad, but I'm not likely to be a big Tree Cody fan if this album is representative of his work.
