5.0 out of 5 stars Smooth Christmas !!
Buy this cd!
I own lots of Christmas music and this one leaps right up to the top. This CD will bring a smile to your face. It's got musical sophistication without the in-your-face attitude. Matt's voice is clear, mellow and easily up to the orchestration which keeps the groove in the right place. A surprisingly satisfying record from a relative unknown. I hope...

1.0 out of 5 stars Go with Buble or Sinatra!
Advertised as equal to Sinatra or Buble. A sad imitation! Not even close! Very nasal, lacking in maturity, in quality of feeling and originality! Just not at all engaging.

Matt Belsante's Christmas album borrows heavily from some classic arrangements from the past - notably Ella Fitzgerald's wonderfully dizzy take on Sleigh Ride - which serves the album well. It has a classic-fresh feel, much like recordings by Michael Buble. Energetic and youthful, Matt's vocals tend to slide and bend a bit too stylistically, sometimes pulling focus from the wonderful lyrics and melodies, but it's a minor quibble. Overall this CD is a charmer, and one you'll want to keep as part of your Christmas music library for repeat whirls!

5.0 out of 5 stars Christmas With Class, August 20, 2008
This review is from: White Christmas (Audio CD)
A fun, swingin' collection of traditional Christmas classics with some unique arrangements. Chris McDonald and his orchestra, combined with the intimate warmth of a voice sent from heaven, make this the must have album for all jazz lovers at Christmas time.

5.0 out of 5 stars OOOOoooooooh Child!, October 27, 2007
This review is from: White Christmas (Audio CD)
All I can say is OOOOOOH CHILD!!! This CD is fantastic. With a voice as smooth as butter and a sound to rival Buble and the other Jazz vocalists of our day if you are a jazz fan or not this Christmas album is where it's at. And on top of that he is such a hottie... OOOOOH CHILD!

Love Matt's voice and delivery of every thing he sings. He has the feel of a crooner from an era long gone. Silky smooth tones and beautiful depth to his instrument. Waiting to hear what he does next.

Hoiday music is some of my favorite music. Being a serious Sinatra fan , I tend to grade all others on him. Not only his voice but the arrangements and the rich sounds of his cd's.
Matt Belsante's " White Christmas " got an A +. This cd is instantly very listenable. His unique " Blue Christmas " is great. " I'll be home for Christmas " takes you back to a time
we all have of quiet retrospect. "Jingle Bell Rock " is just fun to listen to. Every song is terrific . This is one cd that must be in your holiday collection. Don't miss out on this awesome cd !

Matt Belsante can sing with the best of them; he makes every song a joy to hear and that's grand. On this Christmas album he performs at his usual very best; and we get a really nice set of songs that are easy on the ear and memorable. The quality of the sound is terrific; and I like that artwork, too.

The track set opens with Matt singing "Jingle Bell Rock;" Matt delivers this faultlessly and the musical arrangement has a jazzy flavor to it that adds a great deal of energy to this tune and it all holds its own very well. I love it! "White Christmas" includes the lyrics that refer to how Los Angeles has no snow for Christmas; I always liked the addition of these lyrics and Matt performs this with great sensitivity. The piano is well used and the strings enhance the musical arrangement as well. "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town" is another tune with a distinct jazzy style that is warm and catchy; Matt sings this with panache.

"Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!" is very well done; the lush arrangement is perfect--they play beautifully to complement Matt's vocals but wisely they never try to steal the spotlight from Matt. "Blue Christmas" is another gem; Matt sings this with all his heart. I also like "I'll Be Home for Christmas;" this romantic, sentimental number strikes me with its beauty every time I hear it but Matt Belsante's version is especially good because of the honesty in his voice.

"Home for the Holidays" shines brighter than silver and gold combined in Matt's capable hands; and the album ends with Matt Belsante performing an awesome version of "I've Got My Love to Keep My Warm." This number also has a fine, jazzy style that pulls me in and makes me enjoy it more and more every time I hear it again.

Matt Belsante raised the bar--and then he raised it some more--for this album; and he managed to do all these songs with incredible ease! I highly recommend this for anyone who likes holiday music with a jazzy twist; and fans of Matt would do well to add this to their collections.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very enjoyable , nice voice, November 1, 2009
This review is from: White Christmas (Audio CD)
I disagree with some of the reviews, he is comparable to the likes of Buble, Sinatra or even Conick. He does have a distinct voice and I hope that people who are reviewing are listening to the songs more then once. He actually reminds me more of the lead singer of the "Stray Cats". I love his melodies and he puts a smile on my face when I hear these songs. Makes you dance a little even while sitting you have a sway going, lol.I just discovered this yesterday and will be buying it after downloading a few songs on itunes. Listen a few times. First time out I recommend "Zat you Santa Claus" or "Jingle Bell Rock".

Matt has a great voice. His "White Christmas" and "Blame it on my Youth" are a great glimpse at his ability to bend the classics in smooth fashion. However, if you're a Belsante fan, you should check out some of his own songwriting. He's not just a great voice, but a great songwriter too:
