Straightforward Interpretations of Classic Christmas Music,
By efkasper "Gene Kasper" (Mountain View CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: White Christmas (Audio CD)
I have a recording of this album produced for the South Korean market, and the quality is very good.
According to allmusic.com, this album was orginally released in 1959. This is a good recording of traditional Christmas and holiday music, interpreted by Pat Boone in a very straightforward manner. Thus, the record is a very good listen. What struck me as interesting is that, in several numbers, Pat Boone sounds somewhat similar to Bing Crosby; their vocal ranges were similar and, for songs without either's trademark vocal embellishments, the interepretations and sounds were similar.

Pat Boone White Christmas,
This review is from: White Christmas (Audio CD)
This was my favorite Christmas LP from childhood and now I will get it on CD. The young Pat Boone has a wonderful voice and "Hark the Herald Angels Sing" always made me feel choked up. Boone sings these Christmas classics in such a way that you want to sing out loud with him.

Great memories, but there is a surprise!,
This review is from: White Christmas (Audio CD)
This is a wonderful CD reproduction of an album I enjoyed all thru my childhood. One BIG disappointment is that the song, "It Came Upon a Midnight Clear" is NOT on the CD, even though it has a track listing. Whoever dubbed this was asleep! But otherwise it is a great reproduction.

If you are looking for a great Christmas album, then look no further than this one. It has all the traditional Christmas tunes all in one great tape, and you just can't go wrong with Pat Boone. To me this is the best collection and best produced Christmas favorites out of all the Christmas albums I have purchased throughout the years, and I have collected quite a few of them.
This rare cassette tape includes: Side 1)White Christmas, Jingle Bells,Adeste Fideles,God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen. O Little Town of Bethlehem, Silver Bells & Santa Claus Is Coming to Town. Side 2)Silent Night,O Holy Night, Hark the Herald Angels Sing,The First Noel,I'll Be Home For Christmas,Joy to the World, and It Came Upon a Midnight Clear. These are the songs that have withstood the test of time throughout every Chirstmas. They are the ones that remind people about the true meaning of Christmas( Jesus' birthday),at least most of them do. This tape was a bit pricey, but really worth the price. It is a rare find. If you can still find it. It is well worth the search. This tape/album was made at a time when Christmas traditions were still kept and when Pat Boone was at his best. This is one tape you truly should add to your Christmas album collection. |
