Exciting historical adventure and romance in India,

This Eastern Indian adventure make the Wild West seem like kindergarden stuff. A complex civilisation, a bewilderd young english soldier overcome many difficulties to become a man and on the way finds love and also carries out the first gold train robbery. Why hasn't it been made into a Major TV series (too long fo a film)?
