Escape, Return, Breakout,

This review is from: The White Fox Chronicles (Mass Market Paperback)
The Americans are in a war with the evil CCR. The CCR stands for Confederation or Consolidated Republics. Cody Pierce was growing up during this time. Cody was fourteen- years- old. Cody was a rebel leader of the children's barracks at the CCR prison camp. Cody escapes from the CCR and plays around with the CCR. He manages to return to the camp and releases the children.
My likes about the story were okay. One of my likes about the story was that that Cody never left behind the prisoner children. I liked this because in the book he care so much for the children that he went back to get them. An other like about the book was that Cody escaped the prison camp. I liked this part because he didn't do any thing to do to get into the prison camp. A dislike about the book was that it didn't give many details of the prison camp. If I could recommend this book to anyone I would give it to people who like action adventure books. I relate this book to the show Prison Break.

White Fox Rox,

This review is from: The White Fox Chronicles (Mass Market Paperback)
White Fox Chronicles is about a 14 yr old kid who escapes from a CCR concentration camp in the year 2056. Cody will then return to blow up the camp. After Cody escapes to an Army base he goes on journeys blowing up other concentration camps and weaponry warehouses. Cody then earns the reputation of the White Fox for his brains and bravery. Some things I liked about the book was the detail it went into. Like the part where Cody was walking through the desert it explained how blistering the heat was. The part I didn't like was the length of the story I wish it would go on farther or have a sequel. If you want to know more about the story read to learn more about Cody's friends.

The White Fox Chronicles
By Gary Paulsen Main Character The main character of this book is Cody Pierce. Cody is a rebel leader of a children's barracks in the year 2057. Cody is living in war time when the U.S has been conquered by the evil Confederation of Consolidated Republics, otherwise known as the CCR. He is a daring courageous boy with amazing survival skills. His most amazing skill is that of a gifted lock cracker. Why does he have this skill you ask? Cody's friend, a major crime thief has been teaching Cody to successfully crack locks ever since the beginning of the war. Plot The year is 2057 when the U.S was conquered by the evil CCR. Cody has been captured by the CCR and placed in a high tech prison camp full of American hostages. He must escape this horrible place to free not only himself but all of the CCR's prisoners. Setting The story takes place in a prison camp located in the United States. High tech electrical fences surrounding the camp detain many Americans. The prisoners suffer regular beatings and their food is given out in small rations. The conditions are absolutely barbaric. Theme The theme of this story is war and fighting. This theme is carried throughout the book. It is highlighted at the books conclusion when Cody releases the American prisoners, plants bombs around the camp, and blows it to smithereens. Critic's corner I enjoyed reading this story very much. It was action packed, full of adventure, and always kept me guessing about what would happen next. I would definitely recommend this book to another 6th or 7th grade boy.

A Violent Young Adult Novel: The White Fox Chronicles,
By
This review is from: Escape, Return, Breakout (The White Fox Chronicles) (Hardcover)
Bringing together the three books titled "Escape," "Return," and "Breakout," this young adult novel is set in the year 2057. The world is a far different and more hostile place. The United States of America no longer exists, broken apart by the evil tyranny of the Confederation of Consolidated Republics known as the CCR. The CCR controls most of the former United States through their jack booted thugs as well as former Americans turned traitors. Prison camps are everywhere as the CCR seeks to further control the dwindling population.Enter Cody Pierce, a fourteen-year-old boy who has had to grow up the hard way. Confined in a prison camp by the evil Colonel Sidoron, he is secretly plotting his escape. He has lulled the commandant and his troops into believing that he too has joined their ranks. Bestowed with the nickname " the white fox" for his actions and blonde hair, he soon shows them his true nature. He has a secret agenda and plans to make good use of their belief that he is one of them. Soon he makes his first escape from the clutches of the CCR and begins a journey that will take him full circle back to this camp. He will fight for survival repeatedly and be forced to kill and kill again. This novel, while written, is extremely violent in nature and downright rough in spots. This novel is currently on my local school district's recommended reading list for middle school, which covers grades 6 thru 8. I'm not sure that is appropriate and that it wouldn't be better suited to an older grade level. Like any other novel or story, whether the work is appropriate or not depends on the maturity of the reader. As a parent, I read the books my children are assigned and would strongly caution parents to read several sections of this 280-page novel if not all of it to get a feel for the character as well as the violence within this novel. This is a very good book that is simply not appropriate for some children.

The Best Book in the World,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Escape, Return, Breakout (The White Fox Chronicles) (Hardcover)
This book is the best book in the world because he made it so you could actually see what he was writing about. There was a bunch of suspense, and there was a bunch of action and adventure. They should definately make a movie of this book, starring me. I hope Gary Paulsen writes more White Fox Chronicles.

New Adventure for teens,
By Jean Engelbach (Southern California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Escape, Return, Breakout (The White Fox Chronicles) (Hardcover)
This new book by critically acclaimed author, Gary Paulsen, opens the door for a new series of books for teens. Set in a prison camp in the former State of California, in 2057. The USA has fallen and there is a new, malevolent regime the CCR - the Confederation of Consolidated Republic in control. Packing in suspense, action and combat, 14 year old Cody Pierce, known as the White Fox, thwarts his captors and uses his ingenuity to escape from prison camp and wage a personal war on his enemy. Lots of room to expand this hero's capabilities in to future episodes. Very graphic violence in defense of his mission but balanced with loyalty and perseverance. I liked the book and found it held my attention. I look forward to the next one.

Fighting a bleak future.,
This review is from: Escape, Return, Breakout (The White Fox Chronicles) (Hardcover)
The America of 2057 that Cody Pierce, the hero of this novel, lives in is one filled with hopelessness and despaired. Conquered two years ago by a totalitarian state, everyone that survived was sent to forced labor camps. This is an action-packed story, but besides that, it shows the importance of courage and hope, and how even a small contribution is important.

Gary Paulsen the white fox chronicles (escape)
There are two main characters in the story Tony and Cody aka white fox. Cody is a 15 year old boy that was captured by the CCRS. Tony is a pilot that was shot down then captured by the CCRS. The plot of the story is that Cody must break out and go with Tony to the rebel base hidden in mountains with info on the CCRS base so the rebels can attack it. The setting of the story is in the future in the year 2049 when a group called the CCRS takes over the world. When they took over the world they launched missiles all over the USA. Many people died and the armed forces taken over. The ones that where left are the rebels they are made up mostly of what is left of the armed forces. They are all over the world trying to take back the USA. The theme of the story is future, war, and action. I liked this story because it never got boring and was always filled with action and you want to keep reading to find out what happens next. There are also two other books that go along with it Return and Breakout
