alexandrite, NOT,

This is a very nice pendant, so why am I only give it a 3-star instead of 5? Two reasons:
1. The lab-created "alexandrite" is really a color-changing sapphire. I purchase this pendant specifically because of alexandrite, which supposedly changes color base on available light. Alexandrite should has blue/green color under natural light, and I don't see it from the pendant I received - it's always purple. It's a very gem, just not what I expect from alexandrite. 2. The 14k white gold frame that holds the gem is too deep, resulting a very wobbling pendant. The chain of the pendant is also thinner than I expected. I would much prefer they reduce the depth of the gem sitter/frame (so to make the gem face forward most of the time), and use the left-over material from sitter/frame to make the chain a bit thicker. |
