Don't judge a book by it's cover,
By Merry Reader "Sissy" (Indianapolis IN USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: White Hibiscus (Paperback)
Paul Santana Demajo misjudged Emma Hayes, when he saw her with a man, and he made an assumption that Emma and the man were involved sexually.
Because she was a model, and traveling alone with a man, a man she wasn't married to,she had to have loose morals. Emma was with Steve Barrett, because his sister Nina asked her to help Steve as a model. The fact that he was a photographer, and she was to be his model, she only went with him to help his career. But Steve felt she sould help him in the way Paul (picking up Steve's vibes) thought she was already helping him. When Steve got out of hand Emma ran away from him, straight into the arms of Paul. Paul's sister Lisa; a fashion designer, wanted to use Emma to model her summer styles. Lisa arranged Emma to leave Steve, and come to work for her. Paul kept testing Emma to see if she was stuck up, stuck on herself, or snooty. Each time he found she wasn't he was amazed. But he treated her like a sister. Emma found she was in love with this very judgemental man, and she finally got him to see what she really was about.
