Book Description

0875865151 978-0875865157 June 1, 2007
The author, who cites decades of insider knowledge at the KGB and the CIA, says he originally compiled this book upon a request from Washington D.C. Now his handbook is being published, with added chapters for the benefit of the broader public, so that candidates for lesser offices and even mere voters can learn from his insightful de-construction of the cynical power plays by which the world is ruled today.
Here is the book the President of the United States turns to the first day he steps through the door to the Oval Office and closes only as he walks out for the last time. In fact, the strategies and mindset recommended in these pages are essential tools for capturing the Presidency, much less wielding it.
The author swears it s not a parody - and indeed, if it is, then life imitates art, for the international scene today is either a madhouse or the product of extraordinarily cynical techniques such as these, applied with cold cunning, by our nation s leaders. Which is it? Perhaps the next election will tell.
This is a book on practical political science and espionage. A rational, results-based handbook, it is destined to be a secret favorite of politicians, special services agents, CEOs and corporate boards for the next hundred years.

Editorial Reviews

Review

This rather idiosyncratic work is written by a man who claims to have been asked by unspecified "folks in Washington" (former CIA director John Deutch is named as having authorized the "operation") to distill his experience in covert operations and techniques of influence (gained while serving as a intelligence officer for the Soviet KGB and the Ukrainian National Security Service) for a briefing and set of instructions for the White House. This book is the result, providing advice on such wide ranging matters as managing the Cabinet, manipulating voters, negotiating with Congress, "securing world domination," managing secret services, using the FBI and the Mafia to maintain domestic control, military tactics, campaigning. It also provides bare bones demographic information about every state, quotes and political activities of every US president, and other information. The author's approach is suitably cynical for White House occupants, but one doubts whether this is truly "the book the President of the United States turns to the first day he steps through the door to the Oval Office," as the promotional materials claim. The possibility that it is meant as a wry commentary on current-day politics should not be dismissed, but even as such it remains an odd work. --©2007 Book News Inc. Portland, OR

About the Author

Mykhaylo Kryzhanovsky was born in 1958 in Ukraine. He graduated from Chernovtsy University (BS in languages) and received an extraordinary specialized education at Ivano-Frankovsk University of Social Studies, military college, the KGB counter-espionage school and the KGB Intelligence Institute.
He was involved in secret operations since 1978, and later served as a USSR intelligence officer, and a member of the KGB s The Bell top secret anti-terror group. He was a senior intelligence officer and top US government expert with the National Security Service of Ukraine (NSS). His outstanding record of producing up to 20 top-secret government intelligence reports (coded telegrams) a year made him the most productive spy in KGB history, and his unprecedented 30-year espionage career in Russia and the USA probably makes him the number one spy in the world.
In 1992 as NSS officer he managed an illegal espionage station in Moscow, Russia, and planned to substitute a stand-in or double for Russian President Boris Yeltsin, who was the biggest threat to Ukraine at the time. There was a leak, and Yeltsin pushed Ukrainian President Kravchuk to sign a secret agreement to end mutual espionage. Kryzhanovsky learned that a decision had been made to liquidate him and in 1995 he came to the United States. Another KGB officer, Vladimir Putin, a former FSB (Russian counter-espionage service) chief, used his plan and substituted a double for Yeltsin in 2000.
