Book Description

Hoping for some excitement and a little extra money, A.J. Knight signed up to be a Houston EMT. However, when he did, he never thought about the life-and-death situations he'd be put into or the lives that he might be called on to save. Worse, he never so much as considered the lives that might be lost under his watch.

Eve Knox understands what it's like to have life ripped away in an instant. After the death of her first and only love in an unimaginable tragedy, she is struggling to go on with a life that seems to have been stripped of its former meaning. Hurting and alone, Eve knows her friends are just trying to help her cope, but their attempts to fill the void in her heart are starting to smother the spirit she once had. She sees no point in searching for love a second time, what happens when a second-chance love shows up in a way she never saw coming...

An Amazon Christian Romance Best Seller, White Knight brings heart and soul to the Christian fiction stage. Intertwined with humor, laced with spiritual depth, this is one of those romance novels you will want to read again and again. Most Christian romance kindle books are filled with faith, hope, and love, and White Knight stacks up with the best of them. This is one Contemporary Christian romance you do not want to miss.

“Staci Stallings is Christian Romance at its best!”

*~* EXCERPT *~*

“Call me,” Lisa said as Eve turned and started for the cars, but ten steps down the sidewalk she realized that A.J. wasn’t with her. In annoyance she turned just in time to see him shake Jeff’s hand and nod. On her heel she turned and stomped to her car. She wasn’t a baby. She had managed to make it through 29 whole years without Jeff’s constant protective gaze following her every move. How she had ever managed, she was sure he couldn’t quite tell.

Just then she heard the tennis shoes on the concrete behind her, and in the next heartbeat A.J. jogged up beside her.

“I’ve got ten cents that says you drive better than he does,” A.J. said.

“Ten cents? Boy, you have a lot of confidence in me.”

“Okay, make it 20, but that’s my final offer.”

She glanced at him skeptically.

“Hey,” he said, his tone serious, “I have to eat this week you know.”

Eve shook her head and laughed, and as mad as she was at the whole situation, for some reason she just couldn’t be mad with him at her side. “Okay, twenty cents it is.” Without question he followed her across the street and to her car, and then it was time to say good-bye. Gratefulness poured through her as she glanced at him. “I had fun tonight.”

He shrugged. “It was a party. You were supposed to have fun.”

“Well, it was extra fun.”

That apple rounded across the top of his cheek. “I thought so too.”

For a moment she stood, not really wanting to leave.

“Take care driving home,” he said and backed away from her. At the door to the little brown Honda Civic across the street he stopped. “And don’t lose me either.”

“Try to keep up.”

Editorial Reviews

What a treasure!by: Donna M. Basinow

White Knight is a treasure to read!
Ms. Stallings wraps you up in this group of friends as if they were your very own then you can't help but feel for each of them, but especially for Eve as she struggles to find the reason and will to truly move on after losing the love of her life and all of the dreams that they shared.

What Eve doesn't know is that AJ, the paramedic who manages to bring glimpses of joy to her shattered world, has a secret that could not only destroy their budding relationship, but also send her into an emotional tailspin she might never recover from.

What a wonderful story! Ms. Stalling's characters are real people that you will laugh and cry with - and hope to meet again...

From the Author

This is one of those books that starts with the premise, "What do you hold onto when everything you thought you were building is suddenly gone?"

Eve Knox, a secondary character in the first book "To Protect & Serve," has had life ripped out from under her, and she's come to the conclusion she's just putting in time here until her time on earth is over.  She's no longer moving forward, nor does she even particularly care about that.

Her friends, however, are in constant panic-and-fix-it mode.  Trying to get her to want to live again, they've picked out a whole new love for her and have things all tied in a neat, little package.  Thing is, Eve wants nothing to do with that package.

Enter A.J. Knight, a fun-loving young man who has no agenda for life at all.  He's simply out to have a good time and enjoy himself.  However, when the two of them make a real soul connection, A.J. realizes the secret he's told no one might destroy everything they've found.

While Book 1 in The Courage Series, To Protect & Serve, was less Christian until the very end, White Knight takes a dramatic step toward full-on Christian Romance.  With Eve's loss of her husband, she has one and only one thing to hold onto--God.  Her faith is front and center for most of the book, and although she is alone and very much grieving, she is also resilient.  This Contemporary Christian romance novel is one of my favorites because having been in grief, I know the profound need to try to regain normal and how nice it is when someone helps you through that rather than becoming over-protective or flip about your pain.  A.J. is the perfect hero even though he has his share of flaws and issues.  He is ultimately patient and loving as he helps Eve recover and find love again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Story. Lots of Tears. July 18, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I love a good book that makes me cry and this book did that. Yet what really made me love this story the most were the characters. If I loved Jeff and Lisa in the first story in this series, I loved A.J. and Eve that much more. Staci Stallings touches the heart in taking the reader through Eve's inner turmoil and A.J.'s insecurities. Along the way, they became real people struggling to overcome, and I found myself identifying with them. This is the mark of a good author. This is a wonderful love story, which I cannot recommend highly enough for fans of romance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Didn't want to put it down July 18, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I just finished reading an incredible book, White Knight, by Staci Stallings. It's the second in a trilogy about firefighters and first response team workers. Reading the first book, Staci introduced the reader to a family of friends - Jeff, Gabe, Dustin, Dante, and AJ, to name a few of the men as well as Lisa, Ashley, and Eve, to name a few of the women. I really grew to love them "as a brotherhood" and felt for the women who chose to love their men, despite the risks involved when giving their hearts to someone with such a dangerous job.

Eve is the main character in the second book; however, I love that Staci gives plenty of time to continue developing the other characters that I met in the first book. I didn't feel cheated because she kept me in the loop about how things were going with the others. She did a great job blending the new storyline while continuing the previous ones. She built such a strong community of friends that it made me wish my husband and I were part of this tight circle. I could envision us hanging out with them, being accepted for who we are, and building memories right alongside everyone else.

For some reason, I grew a real soft spot for AJ in Book I and was thrilled when I got to continue my friendship with him in Book II. He was funny and lighthearted; yet, he has such depth to him. He never wavers or changes to fit into other people's preconceived mold for his life. He doesn't have to - he's the perfect blend of fun and excitement rolled together with maturity and putting others first. His favorite saying throughout the entire book went something like this, "You always have a choice. Whether you make it or you let it make itself."

Messages about relying on God and thanking Him for the blessings in life are very subtle, but still present.

1.0 out of 5 stars A waste of money and time February 27, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I read To Protect and Serve and enjoyed the writing and the story. White Knight failed to deliver. The two main characters were not believable and the dialog immature and irritating. He is constantly saying "ugh" and she says "cool" so many times I wanted to throw the book against the wall. Who says ugh, or cool? I also found it irritating that these two characters never work. He is suppose to be an EMT, but he would rather be a drummer? I want my ambulance driver and EMT to be totally committed to the job. She is some kind of fashion something or other, not sure, but she has loads of spectacular clothes, who cares.

In the book To Protect and Serve, both characters worked and were committed. They spoke mature language and had some backbone. In this book, White Night, the two lead characters were wimpy and drove me to write my first book review ever.

"White Knight" is the 2nd book in the amazing Courage Series by Staci Stallings. I highly recommend you read the 1st book "To Protect and Serve" before reading this book. For one thing, it is too incredible a story to miss. But, it will also give you a much deeper understanding of the characters to know everything that happened in "To Protect and Serve". "White Knight" is an incredible story about a girl named Eve who felt like everything good in her life was lost when Dustin, her firefighter husband, had tragically perished from injuries sustained while fighting a fire. This story is about her struggle to find a reason to go forward when it felt like all her dreams were lost forever. It is a story of loving friends who almost smother her with good intentions. It is also the story of a paramedic named A.J. Knight who also struggled to find meaning in his life. A.J. was the paramedic who cared for Dustin after he was injured. He cannot get over his guilt at not being able to have done something more or better to have prevented Dustin's death. Through a series of twists and turns, two most unlikely people find in each other a reason to live, laugh and love. However, will A.J. let the guilt prevent him from allowing a relationship to develop? Will Eve be able to forgive A.J. when she finds out he did not tell her he was with Dustin when he died? Expect the unexpected. Another great page turner by Staci Stallings!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another fabulous read by Staci Stallings!!! July 19, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition

Only one problem with it though...this book should come with a warning label...

Caution: Do not start reading White Knight if you require sleep, or if you have a husband or children or other family members who have need of your time, or if you have any other pressing obligations.
Author is not responsible for the outcome of any of the above not being tended to.

White Knight, came with no such warning, and I tried to put it down, honestly I did, especially since I'm up against a deadline. But, I just couldn't. I had to find out how Eve and AJ got together, considering Eve had already had one true love in her life, and how AJ was the one of the last few people to see her deceased husband alive and could have possibly saved him. I had to know if Eve would blame AJ for her husband's death, and if AJ was indeed responsible somehow. I first met Eve and AJ in, To Protect & Serve. The first book in the "Courage Series". I highly recommend that one too. In fact, I suggest you read it first because there, you will meet and get to know all the wonderful characters in, White Knight. Plus, you will discover what happened to Eve's husband and what part AJ played in the whole thing. Not only that, you will be reading another fabulous romance by Staci Stallings.

I have read many of Staci Stallings books and they are all excellent. The lessons inside them are amazing and something we can all relate to in one way or another. Some will even find healing in them. I know I sure did.

Happy reading!!
