5.0 out of 5 stars Be VERY careful with size!
I read the reviews, I looked up what I thought was the sizing chart, I measured my daughter, ordered what I thought the right size... it arrived 4-5 inches too large.

I asked if they could send a smaller one with me paying for it and they pay shipping but no... was not going to mess with a return so I just ordered a smaller one using the CORRECT sizing chart...

Be careful when selecting a size. Even though there is a child pictured and the size selection drop down is titled Children's Unisex Size, the sizing includes adult sizes. For example, I ordered a size 8, because my child wears a size 8. If you review the Martial Arts.com sizing chart, you can see that the size 8 is an ADULT size uniform.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great beginner gi, November 24, 2009
By
This review is from: White Light Weight Karate Uniform Size 0000 to 8 (Misc.)
This gi is made well and is great for beginners. It is double seamed so it won't rip and has a full inset gusset for mobility. It is thick enough so it is long lasting, but not so thick as to be heavy.

For those that didn't give it full stars - if you pick the wrong size...of course you have to pay to ship it back...and nowadays to even send something priority FRB costs over $6-7...so you are paying regular shipping!

The review is supposed to be on the item...not on personal errors...

Anyway - thought this gi was great

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for the price, November 19, 2010

I bought a size 0000 for my 4 yr old and 000 for my 6 yr old (average size kids)......they both fit perfectly but with no room for growth. I'll be getting the bigger ones soon and I will definitely buy this brand again. The price can't be beat and although it is a light weight suit it is not flimsy or fragile. I'm glad to find a light suit that washes really well and doesn't shrink in the dryer and it needs NO IRONING!

3.0 out of 5 stars OK for skinny kids, November 8, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: White Light Weight Karate Uniform Size 0000 to 8 (Misc.)
This is an OK gi for kids who are starting but they are cut for skinny kids. I would not recommend anything this light weight for an adult.

I purchased a 000 for my boy who just turned 5. I'd guess him to be pretty average in size for his age. 42" and 42 lbs. Size chart said 48" and 40 lbs for a 000. 36" and 30 lbs for the 0000. He is right in the middle height wise so I went with the 000. This was to big so I tried the 0000. The jacket fit ok but the pants were short, tight and the belt was too short. So he's wearing the 000 belt and pants (cuffed) and the 0000 top.

These are a cotton/polyester blend and didn't shrink after the first wash but I hang dry my GI's I don't put them in the dryer.

For those who don't know the proper fit for a Gi is at or above the ankle for pants and at or just above the wrist for sleeves. Some "tournament cut" or "kata cut" Gi's have a longer jackets with sleeves that are midway between the wrist and elbow. The pants are also shorter in length.

They really need like a 000 1/2 because there is a huge starting age group between 3' (3 years old) and 4' (7 years old)

These were both ProForce gi's. I don't know what the Tiger Claw label is about.

My kids were thrilled with the new gi. Make sure you check how to size your uniform... my son is a size 8 and took a 00. My daughter is a size 10 and took a 0.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent buy!!!, January 28, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
For those of you who aren't aware of how to purchase a Gi, you should really figure it out before trying to purchase one online that can't be tried on. The sizes are WAY different than anything I've ever seen, and can be a bit confusing. I've inserted a link to the site I used as a guideline. He is 4'5" and about 70lbs, so I got him the size 1. It's a little big all the way around, but the size down wouldn't have fit. A few rolls in the sleeves and legs later and it's perfect!

As far as this particular product is concerned, I am extremely pleased! The karate school my son attends uses the same brand, but I was able to pay less for mine. It is lightweight, which is good because we live in Florida, but seems very durable. The ONLY complaint I would have is that the belt is about 2x longer than what my husband would use. I'm assuming it's normal to have a longer belt so you can cut it to size, but it seems like such a waste! When my son needs a new gi, I will be SURE to buy this one again!

5.0 out of 5 stars Quality, January 22, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is a great uniform/belt combo for starters. Quality build and fast shipping ensure I get the best bang for my buck, and that I don't dissapoint my students with a uniform that hasn't arrived for the second week in a row. I have literally tried all the bigger box Martial Arts suppliers, and the order response and shipping time were not acceptible unless you are one who likes to order bulk and keep a ton of inventory. I would recommend this product to anyone.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not the same as the first set, March 9, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Old review: I bought these in several sizes since I have 2 kids in karate. In general, karate pants are always too long, so it helps to have 2 consecutive sizes so kids can wear the pants of one set and the top from the other. Good theory, but the tops on these are pretty narrow, so even though the sleeves might be a good length, the wrapped part is too tight when tied all the way shut. Not a problem for me, because you just tie it more loosely, but my 10 year old doesn't like it that way. The material is a bit thin, but they seem to be sturdy. Kids haven't worn theirs yet because they are too stiff for them--need to be washed a few times to soften up. Also, the ties are all on the inside of the flaps on both sides, which my 10 year old dislikes because it makes them harder to find.

Update 12/11: I bought a new set of these, thinking they would be the Tiger Claw brand that was sent last time. Now they are Pro Force. The material is even more thin than the last set. The ties are almost like ribbon and are very difficult to untie after training. The sizes run smaller than Tiger Claw, too. My eldest is in a size 1 Tiger Claw, so I bought him a size 1 and a size 2. He says the size 1 is too small in the Pro Force brand. Long enough, but too tight around the hips, making it difficult for him to do any of the training that requires bending his legs because they are binding. Even though he wasn't originally pleased with the Tiger Claw, they were much better than the current offering!

4.0 out of 5 stars ripped off with shipping, July 19, 2005
This review is from: White Light Weight Karate Uniform Size 0000 to 8 (Misc.)
This is a great uniform --so don't get me wrong.
However just because it is the less expensive one on this site doesn't mean you will not pay as much in the end. We ended paying more in shipping than it actually cost to ship the item to us. The company's response OH WELL!! we don't charge shipping by what it really cost to ship. So BUYER bewear!!
