This is White Lion Concert Anthology LIVE 1987 - 1991,
By cd-heaven (ROCK CITY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: White Lion: Concert Anthology 1987-1991 (DVD)
Track Listing
1. Hungry 2. Dont Give Up 3. Lonely Nights 4. Sweet Little Lovin 5. Broken Heart 6. Fight to Survive 7. Tell Me 8. All Join Our Hands 9. Wait 10. When the Children Cry 11. All You need Is Rock N Roll 12. All The Fallen Men All songs are performed live...the quality the sound the video are all professional. Get this while you can. It's White Lion. One of the best bands of the glam era who weren't actually a glam band. Yeah the dressed it, but you had to too get a million records sold, such as Tesla and Cinderella. Long live Vito Bratta...watching this guy play live is only 2nd to Eddie van Halen! He's incredible here! The bonus features are really what make this a 5 star release. there are some behind the scene interviews and clips from Freak of nature Live in Japan, a side project fronted by Mike Tramp. They perform 3 songs, 1 original, an electric cover of Lizzy's Bad Reputation, and Neil Youngs acoustic OHIO. Awesome stuff. Not sure why Mike Tramp is all Tommy Lee looking with tattoos everywhere! Total running time just over 2 hours Bottom Line, a great release however not sure why this is titled from 1987 - 1991. All of the program live footage is derived from 2 shows supporting the Pride album, and look at the song list, it's primarily, if not all from Fight to Survive and Pride. But it's essential. Get it while you can.

COULD BE MUCH BETTER...,

...This DVD could be much better......
Altought the effort of DEADLINE, this DVD deserved a better production. I doubt the band aproved this launch, because you will find a set list of live performances mixed between 2 shows: NY and JAPAN, and the live footage of the japanese show is totally awfull, with mediocre sound and vision. if you will find a better sound and kinda well video : select the NY performances. Sad because some of the great songs were performed in Japan ( like TELL ME ). Funny about the title of the DVD and the content of the same : 2 shows supporting the launch of PRIDE. Thats the reason you must find reviews pals ! Th bonus material contains 3 perfoirmances of Mikes solo project FREAKS OF NATURE, with acceptable quality, I laughed when Mike roar like a grunge artist introducing this band members. Nice song acoustic In the INTERVIEWS section you will find a lil from the VHS ESCAPE FROM BROOKLYN, and new stuff, like the brief interview when a lady interviewd the band in the set when they were shooting the video for LITTLE FIGHTER, brief also. and finally in this bonus section the ALTERNATIVE video of BROKEN HEART is pretty good. I ADORE WHITE LION, and thats the reason I expect a good product, but the lack of material is enuff for die hards....like me long live the LION !!!

Well, White Lion was one of the greatest rock and roll bands from 80's, Mike tramp and Vitto were the Jon and Richie from Bon Jovi at that time. The band really kick ass at this concert BUT THE DVD HASA REALLY BAD SOUND, AWFULL IMAGE, it's a shame because they really played very well, they were awesome in those concerts, the company Deadline records and Mike tramp did not a well work presenting a video like this. Anyway! if you are a fan GET IT!

I am a big fan of White Lion, and would be the last one to ever say something bad about them, but this video BEWARE...it's a massive money grab. The live footage is bootleg quality at best. One of the songs, which I think was filmed in NYC, it looks like it was transferred from a 3rd rate vhs copy, not the original source material. I've seen bootlegs with better quality than this. Even if you're a fan, I wouldn't recommend this, because you should get what you pay for. This dvd, you don't get nothing even remotely watchable. The japan footage is the worst. It's so dark, and blurry, ya can barely even see the band. I wouldn't have even released this if it couldn't be up to today's standards.
I've seen TV series' that were not remastered, and were still about 500% better in quality than this. So, for any White Lion fans out there, don't waste your money on this, it's a complete money grab, and you'll regret it later. Shame on whoever released this piece of crap.

White Lion and Vito Bratta are both underrated names in rock history. The DVD is not todays video and audio quality but it defines the unique style of guitarirst Vito Bratta and shows good examples of quality rock song composing. I try to collect every video about White Lion but there are a few available only. If your are a big fan and a collector this DVD is a must. |
