White is for Magic is a very interesting read. The suspense is superb, and the book is fast-paced. I have no interest in wicca, but the suspense and mystery far outweighs the embedded wicca elements. 3.0 out of 5 stars A bit of repetition that bodered me a little
I thought the first book was really good, this one is not as good good (just good). It may be that while I read it I felt I had already read this story in the first book. Did they had to kidnapped again the exact same friend that was kidnapped in book 1? That just bodered me. The story felt to easy too come up with. But don't get me wrong; it was a really fun read and...

White is for Magic is a very interesting read. The suspense is superb, and the book is fast-paced. I have no interest in wicca, but the suspense and mystery far outweighs the embedded wicca elements. The main character, Stacey is easy to like and she brings the reader into the story. From there, Laurie Faria Stolarz does the rest by creating an intriguing plot with just the right amount of surprises and twists. The new character, Jacob, adds just enough to make this novel just a little bit more intriguing than Blue is For Nightmares.

If you like suspenseful novels, this book is very satisfying.

Great book. I am starting Silver is for Secrets today.

5.0 out of 5 stars White Restores My Faith in Pagan Fiction, January 13, 2005

After reading the first Sweep book, I was quite sure that I would never again pick up a book that claimed to be fiction relating to Wicca. But when I saw this book in the store and saw that Llewellyn was the publisher, I decided to give it a shot. And I have to say that I was extremely impressed.

White is the second book in this series, but it's the first one I read. I like that the main plot isn't centered on her involvement in Wicca, like many other books of a similar genre. White was suspenseful and scary and I was surprisingly able to get over the present tense writing that I usually hate. I'm definitely going to buy Blue is for Nightmares and Silver is for Secrets, when it comes out.

4.0 out of 5 stars White is for Magic, October 15, 2004

It's easy to feel a little confused when starting "White is for Magic", since it jumps right into the action and doesn't explain too much. Reading the prequel would have been helpful, but I caught on after a few chapters.

The story isn't too bad, and people who appreciate magic (the real life, "Wiccanesque" variety), mystery, murder, and those realistic teen girl novels will probably love this book for that, but people who aren't big on one or more of those elements probably won't list it as a favorite.

White is for Magic is an amazing book! I loved it! I could not put it down. The series begins with Blue is for Nightmares and I would definetly start with it first. These books are about a teenage girl named Stacey who begins to recieve nightmares about her friend being murdered. The second book follows with a similar plot but is no less exciting! These are amazing thrillers/mysteries and I absolutly recommend them.

5.0 out of 5 stars A page-turning thriller!, March 16, 2007
A Kid's Review
This review is from: White Is for Magic (Stolarz Series) (Paperback)
White is for Magic by Laurie faria Stolarz is a thrilling adventure, sure to keep you turning the pages. Stacy, a sophomore in an English Prep school, has reoccurring nightmares. But this time, they're not predicting future deaths of classmates, but merely inhabited by the people of Stacy's past. Little does she know, her dreams are trying to tell her something. Of course things don't get better when a student mysteriously appears on campus to warn Stacy of her troubles soon to come. Together, they have to use magic to help them survive.
I loved this book because I couldn't predict the ending. When Stacy met Jacob, the mysterious new boy, I couldn't make up my mind! Was he there to help? Why bother? He didn't even know her! I would recommend this book to any reader who loves a mysterious read. (I also recommend the other books in the series. Blue is for Nightmares, Silver is for Secrets , and Red is for Remembrance.) This book has small amount of mature material but the story itself is powerful. Read this brilliant book and travel with Stacy through her adventures and enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific and very gripping, May 6, 2006
This review is from: White Is for Magic (Stolarz Series) (Paperback)
This book was great!
It took me two days to read and honestly the second day was needed because I was lying in bed too scared to continue! There is loads of suspense in it!

It begins with our old friend Stacey who is back at school with Drea and Amber (who will definitley earn some good laughs) one year after Veronica Leeman's death and Drea's crazy stalker has been put in juvy, well since Veronicas death parents have taken kids out of this one prestigious school and now a whole bunch of 'ghost groupies' have taken their places and are obssesed with Stacey's past and the entire Veronica scandal.
And then, Stacey wakes up feeling as though she may just puke...(faintly familiar? haha) and she knows something is not right. She is having nightmares about Maura the little girl she let die and Veronica. She recieves threats again and the books begins its wild 'who did it?' game where EVERYONE is the suspect, even this new witch kid Stacey meets who supposedly is having nightmares about HER.
The ending is awesome and Stacey even finds out some very intresting things about her mother. The final showdown with the REAL killer is so suspensfull I was practically falling out of bed with terror! And it is also very pleasing, not something particularly predictable and so therefore VERY satisfying.
SO I recommend this book and hope someone else enjoys it as much as me. :)

White Is For Magic review

The Book White Is For Magic is a story about a 17 year-old girl in boarding school who has premonitions in her dreams of what is going to happen in real life. Stacy Brown has been having premonitions for weeks about a little girl she knows who died a year ago and someone else running from a man trying to kill her. A boy named Jacob who is her age, from another state comes to her school to tell her that the girl in her dreams is her and there is a man trying to kill her from an incident that happen a year ago.
I think the book is exciting and different. Exciting because this girl s having these dreams about someone she thinks is really close to her when it ends up being her, I couldn't stop reading it because I was trying to figure out the whole book with every page. The book is very different because a lot of it is based on magic, the girl that is having premonitions does all these spells to try to figure out who is after her and why. The author did a great job keeping the readers interested by all the twisted and weird events young Stacy Brown goes through I loved this book, and I recommend it to anyone it's very surprising.
