Editorial Reviews

After a year in space on the UFO, White Orange has returned with their self-titled debut album. Recorded in Portland, Oregon, by Adam Pike (Red Fang, Icarus Line, Black Elk), this is the rock record of 2011 and is the musical equivalent of shamanic time travel. They're transmuting such bands as Kyuss, Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr & Mastadon into their own brew of psychedelic soda pop brought on by the spiraling evolution of sound. Tired of soul-less weak indie bands? Are you taking psychedelic drugs in your bedroom? Are you having conversations with the universe? Then this band is speaking to you. Features original cover art by Raul Casillas. Also available on LP.

Portland's Metal scene is off the hook and White Orange blew me away. Someone who normally listens to bands like The Killers or Tenacious D or Deadmau5, taking a stab in the dark with White Orange was fun. And I'm glad I did. A non stop blend of guitar and great vocals. Little did I know this is a side project of another favorite in this house- Black Pussy. Go Portland Metal!
