Upfield captures the feel of the country and the people at that time. He keeps you in suspense while leading you on through the story. The characters are well drawn and sympathetic and his detective, Bony, is not all-knowing and overbearing. I felt that I was detecting along with him. The villain was painted as a full-rounded person not all black and despicable. I highly recommend this book as well as any of his others.
Finally found the last book by this author for my library. It is every bit as good as the others. |
