5.0 out of 5 stars A Musical Gem!, October 8, 2001
By
What to say about one of the greatest soundtracks ever. The songs have been forever etched into our collective counsicousness (haven't we all sung 'Whistle While You Work' to dampen the drudgery of house work), it's themes are timless and the score is beautiful. A lot of the dialog leading up to and out of the songs in Snow White is spoken in verse and has been included here. It's a great addition that really makes this soundtrack a partial retelling of the story.

For a score recored before stero was invented, Snow White sounds amazing! The re-mastering work done here is really incredible. You'll be hard pressed to find a better sounding recording from this time.

As a collectors item, this is not only a score to Disney's first animated feature film, but also the worlds first soundtrack. Up to this point soundtracks were made up of renditions of songs featured in a film. Disney forever changed that by including the original recordings as they appeared in the film itself! Also, there are two bonus songs "Music in Your Soup" and "You're Never Too Old To Be Young" (both sung by the dwarfs) which, although completed, were cut from the film. Both of these are every bit as delightful as the rest of the music. I find the second of the two especially charming because of it's sentiment.

What's not to like about this soundtrack?? It's a milestone, a trendsetter and a technical thriumph, but beyond that it's a charming classic that has stood (and will continue to stand) the test of time. Don't miss it!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Magical, Delightful Soundtrack, October 7, 2002
This was the first of the newly remastered and expanded "Disney classic soundtracks" that I purchased for my collection, and it's still my favorite. How wonderful to have, not only the vocals from the old vinyl version ("I'm Wishing/One Song," "With a Smile and a Song," "Heigh-Ho," "Bluddle-Uddle-Um-Dum," "The Dwarfs' Yodel Song" (and if you don't want to get up and dance to it, there's something wrong with you!), and "Some Day My Prince Will Come"), but the background instrumentals from the track, never before available to the at-home audience. The "Queen Theme," the chilling "Far Into the Forest," and "I've Been Tricked" particularly bring scenes from the movie springing to mind. There are also two songtracks that were cut from the film print. If you're a Disney-lover, your collection must positively include this CD.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sounds amazing for 70 years old!, January 17, 2008

This review is from: Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs (Audio CD)
This restoration was released several years ago, but I just recently bought it.

My review title pretty much sums it up... I don't know what the original reels sounded like, but this finished result sounds great!

There are some occasional hisses, pops and imperfections in the audio tracks... but what do you expect from something originally released in 1937?!

My only gripe is that the chorus of "God voices" sounds really distant (like they're singing through a wall), but I assume that's just how it was recorded 70 years ago, so I can't really complain about anything.

The soundtrack is surprisingly developed for a film of its age, and historically it is a milestone because it was the first film to have its actual soundtrack (not just arrangements or highlights) released.

The other thing that I LOVE about it is that all the tracks are placed in the CORRECT order on the album. I absolutely hate that the Little Mermaid and some other Disney soundtracks are all mixed up (with all the songs being clustered together and then the score being the second half), so this Snow White soundtrack was a VERY nice surprise.

Definitely a worthy addition to any collection!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Churchill's are very talented persons., February 12, 2007
When I was 6, I already had a very good sense of what is a fine music score. I'm 73 now and still loving that music.

5.0 out of 5 stars One Song, February 19, 2006
I bought this album almost especially for the piece of music entitled "Special Sort Of Death." It does sound creepy but that's what I loved about it. From I saw the film I was like I have to have that.

Anyway another reason for me purchasing this album was the main titles for the film I love the ochestration. My favourite song on this album would have to be One Song followed by with A Smile and a Song.

And number 5 (a piece of music) I can't remember what it's called but it is creepy too the part that has snow white running through the woods.

Someday my prince will come is nice too. Adriana's voice is a little high and annoying sometimes though. But it's still nice to listen to. I listen to this album alot it's very nice and I like to listen to the version of One Song that is played at the end of the movie.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!, February 16, 2012
What can I say? It's Snow White. The animated classic that took cartoons from randomly repeated scenes with loud music playing in the background to highly detailed masterpieces with music excellent enough to become sensations known and loved worldwide. This is an excellent soundtrack and I strongly recommend it to any person of any age. 5/5

4.0 out of 5 stars Great soundtrack, January 14, 2012

Great soundtrack, but like most soundtracks from movies it lacks the emotion of the story line involved with each song. If you LOVE the movie and can feel the emotion in the part of the movie the song is for, you will like this. We purchased for our 3 yr old who loves Snow White. She listens to "I'm wishing" and "Hi-HO", but isn't interested in most of the rest.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Disney score, January 11, 2012

In 1937, Walt Disney's first animated masterpiece, 'Snow White & the 7 Dwarfs', hit screens. This marvelous classic remains fun to see today - in no small part due to the wonderful songs & score of Frank Churchill.

Snow White's wonderful songs, such as 'I'm Wishing', 'Some Day My Prince will Come', and 'Whistle While You Work' are the most recognizable tunes, along with the 7 Dwarfs' 'Heigh-Ho' as they return to their cottage from their diamond mine. The score also has a darker side to it; such tracks as the 'Magic Mirror', which depicts the Queen learning from the Mirror that she is no longer 'fairest in the land'; the 'Queen Theme' - in which the Queen gives orders to the Huntsman to murder Snow White while she picks wildflowers; and 'I've been tricked', when the enraged Queen, learning her plot had failed, concocts a potion to turn herself into a peddler and a poisonous apple. This one has a frightening trombone melody followed by wailing strings as the Queen begins the transformation. The lively 'Dwarfs' Yodel song' and 'Washing song' round things out nicely.

This is one of Disney's greatest scores; both the young & the old will love it!

I loved this CD. My fellow fourth grade teachers used it as part of a TAKS (state assessment) pep rally. The kids loved it!! They really got a kick out of the Hi-Ho-Hi-Ho song. Thanks for sending it on time and in great condition.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs CD is a wonderful addition to my daughters Audio library. She just loves listening to all the songs. She sings along with them. It was worth the purchase to see her eyes light up.
