This pants broke my heart.

I was about to go on a one-week journey to Iceland, where hiking up and down glaciers would necessitate snowpants like this. So, I got an XL pair on Amazon and hoped for the best.

The pants arrived, and despite the fact that they are very well made and comfortable, the XL size was a little too tight. Nothing I couldn't cope with, but it would become annoying on the ice. So, I went ahead and ordered the XXL.

That's when the insanity began. My order was shipped super quickly, and the pants that I received did say they were XXL, but they actually fit worse than the XL! I could actually wear the original XL pants, just not comfortably. The XXL pants would not even close! Just to be sure I wasn't insane or slowly expanding like Violet Beauregard, I put on the original XL pants again, and yes, they did still fit. Some how the XXL's were smaller than the XL's.

Ok, I said, let's try this again. I put in for ANOTHER return, and get another pair of XXL's in the mail the next day. Sure enough, they are too small. So, there I am with three pairs of snowpants, one of which doesn't fit very well, and two of which I can't even put on at all.

The difference, as far as I can tell, is that the XL pants were made in China, where the XXL's were made in Bangladesh. It appears that this company has some serious quality and consistency control problems, or at least did with this line.

Which is very sad, because these are great, inexpensive snow pants. I ended up wearing the slightly too small ones, and just coped on my trip. They constantly kept my legs warm, they held up to ice and rock and rain. The pockets are deep, the boot flares are the correct size, and though the pants tend to sit a little low, they have belt loops (and they stay up great with a belt or suspenders).

Buy at your own risk, but maybe you will get lucky. Once they fix their quality control issues, I would make this a five star review. Until then... too much hassle.

First of all let me say that I am not skiing or snowboarding in these. I bought them for protective warmth while working in my workshop and walking my dog in winter. I am very happy with these. They run a little on the large size. I am in my mid 50's and currently running at a 40-42 inch waist and a 30 inch inseam. I ordered the XXL size and I can wear them without a belt over thermal underwear. The fit is a bit baggy and "roomy" in the the legs and rear. I find the extra room beneficial because these snow pants can also be worn over blue jeans + a thermal under layer without feeling constricted for mobility. I would purchase another pair again. I have arthritic based problems in my left leg and wintertime has been a PITA for the last few years. These have been a godsend for keeping my mobility up and have brought back enjoyment to the winter months in Ohio (gee, who would of thought that warmth is good for joint pain, duhhh!). BTW they wash and dry well on the gentle cycles and do not shrink. I purchased another brand of snow pants on Amazon called Arctix. As a comparison, the Artix have a little less insulation and seem to run true to size. I can easily wear them over thermals. The Artix shrank up just a bit on the first laundering (both were laundered at the same time). Personally I find the White Sierra brand to be a better all around product. The Artix brand does have zip up front pockets but these tend to snag on the fabric shell; and they aren't quite as warm. I procured the Artix on sale for 27 bucks and I'm still happy with them... I know that this is a review of White Sierra but I felt that mentioning my observed points of the Artix brand could possibly help out those who read reviews while comparison shopping. Regards, Brian.

I ordered these and when I tried them on, they are way too small and the elastic portion of the waistband does not expand. Don't buy these in XXL and expect them to fit based on the size chart that Amazon expects. I am a 40 waist and they were at lest 6" too small.

I am a 190 Lb. male size 36 30 but sometimes opt for a 32 inseam depending on the cut of the cuff. I bought the XL 30 and found the fit to be very good. Perfectly snug around my hip and plenty long enough for any type of boot, perhaps a bit too long for a claimed 30 inseam. I can also wear them with or without extra layers underneath. The material in not thin and flimsy. It seems to me like tent material. The crotch is not too low and allows for great movement. The belt loops are sturdy and wide but there should be one in the middle back. The pockets are flap over Velcro to keep out snow and are fleece lined. There is one back pocket also with a Velcro flap. The velcro scratches my wrists when I put my hands in the pockets. The gators have a wide grippy rubber cuff to keep them placed down tightly on your boot where they belong. They are not that puffy but in my experience puffy = warm. but they are also not too thin. It was 26 degrees and windy, I wore cotton sweatpants underneath and I found myself sweating during moderate activity. The fabric itself is not waterproof but has a "waterproof coating" I have a feeling washing these regularly may remove the waterproof coating over time. I am overall pretty happy with this purchase.

Very happy with product. My son is going to winter camp in Wisconsin and to find snow pants in the south is very expensive. Very happy with this product and supplier.

I am 6'1 and 180 pounds so i ordered the large. It said 30 waist and im a 32, so no problem there. They are good for the price, but literally fit like parachute pants. I own high end snowboard pants and these don't fit anything like them. I would not recommend for boarders who hit rails, ETC....these things are SUPER WIDE on your legs.

Pants worked perfectly for a ski trip. Warm and waterproof.
Only caveat: the sizes run small. I originally ordered medium (I'm a size 32 waist) and they literally fell off. After returning and getting a size small, they were a little tight, but functional. I left the top button undone if it got uncomfortable and the pants stayed on just fine.

These pants have only been worn a couple of times but they are exactly as expected. The waist seems a little generous but a belt solved that dilemma quickly.

It seems that every pair of snow pants that I buy online shows a tapered leg in the photo but is square-cut when it arrives.
I can't understand why the manufacturers don't realize that people go out in the snow 99% of the time WITHOUT wearing ski boots. Even with ski boots, the legs wouldn't need to be that large.

Despite this, I appreciate the elastic waist band and the comfortable fit. I haven't tested them in extreme cold yet, but they seem to be pretty well-insulated.

My gripes are the pant legs as stated above (a solution would be a zipper along with some taper), and the fabric type which is noisy when walking. I once owned a pair of insulated snow pants that had zippers in the legs and a material that wasn't shiny and didn't make noise - now discontinued.

These pants are still a pretty good deal though considering that most ski pants are well over a hundred dollars.
