Simply one of the most STUNNING albums, EVER!,

Andreas Vollenweider, quite simply, is one of the most talented musicians that I have ever had the opportunity to listen to.
I first became familiar with him back in the 80's when Johnny Carson had him as a special guest on the Tonight Show. At the time, this album was about to be released, and he played several selections from it, and I was blown away, completely. If you are not familiar with Andreas, he plays the Electric Harp, and it is so haunting, eerie, almost percussive at moments....nothing like it! I have always stayed "up" with his releases, and had all of them on vinyl, then cd, and now, on enhanced or remastered cd. Of all of them, this is simply the very best. My favorite thing to do is to put this on my surround system, turn off all the lights, curl up on the couch in the dark in a fuzzy cover, and simply "drift" and "float", going wherever "the music takes me" on this particular journey! Never tireing, or repetative, like classical music, always the same, but also ever deepening. Click on some of the samples on here and give it a try...too bad they are so short, as you need to "live" in the selections on the album. Do trust me, and pick up this great classic album...I guarantee you will NEVER be sorry that you did, and hopefully, you'll thank me for convincing you to try this super talented musician's album! Enjoy! ~operabruin

My parents gave me a used copy of this on cassette when I was 6 years old 18 years ago! Only problem was the label fell off and I had no idea who the musician was. Regardless I wore the heck out of that tape (there's damaged sections all over if you listen to it now!) because it was so phenomenal. Fast forward to today and I was finally able to identify what the heck the music was with a freeware app called Tunatic. Having finally figured out what the tape was all this time, I at last ordered the CD version!

Very cool. I like Down to the Moon better, but I don't think that you can go wrong with any Andreas Vollenweider CD that I have heard. They are all unique. I also like Caverna Magica and Behind the Gardens, Behind the Wall, Under the Tree. Worth the money.

Back in the day this was the premier alternate music take on Jazz.
Our LPS then our tapes and their systems have all worn away but the music is still fresh and invigorating. There are very few modern albums from 30 years ago that can say that. Fortunately this is one.

The music on this CD is the epitome of what fusion should be. There is not a single song that is not outstanding.

This was one of several new-age albums that I grew up with - my parents were big fans of Vollenweider, David Arkenstone, Kitaro, and several other big names in the New Age scene. This and Down to the Moon are my two favorites of Vollenweider's. Despite the artist being Swiss, I always associated a certain Oriental feel to the music on this album - it brought to mind images of Chinese marketplaces, traditions and pageantry, though I'm likely showing my ignorance of such things. :)
I can't say I care too much for the bonus tracks (starting with Pace Verde), but the main album is quite solid. It brings back good memories. :)

Love Andreas Vollenweider's music.
Quiet Music plays his albums all the time. If you want to relax and chill White Winds fits the bill.

This is one of the best music tapes that Andreas has ever produced. It may well be my personal favorite. As a previous reviewer suggested, listening to it has the power to take you away to a most mystical and faraway place. It is a spirtual journey from which you really do not want to return it is so beautiful. I had the good fortune of seeing Andreas Volleweider in concert over twenty years ago while living in New Orleans. Not many people knew about him so the venue for the concert had to be "downsized" to the MacAlister Auditorium on Tulane University. I took a coworker along with me and she as really impressed. Andreas and his fellow musicians were so extremely talented. They played some instruments I had never even seen before let alone had the pleasure to hear. The backdrop of the stage was dark blue with shimmering white dots of lights creating an atmosphere as if you were outside under the midnight sky. This is music truly not to be missed!

This was purchased to replace a copy that I had years ago. "White Winds" is still my favorite Vollenweider album. It arrived in good condition and in a timely manner. Very pleased.
