3.0 out of 5 stars It's good when you can get it to work...
This steamer works great IF you can get the cap off. It is so annoying to get it out to clean and then the cap sticks and won't BUDGE. I hate it because I can't use it when I need it.

When I moved into this place the renter moving out told me, "You'll never get the kitchen and bathroom clean." I got out the bleach and went to town -- no effect on these old tile counters. When I tried this vapour cleaner, I felt like I was making my own infommercial the results were so dramatic. Some workmen left marks on the vinyl floor last year that I couldn't even identify, let alone get up; adhesive was my best guess. The WhiteWing got them up like they were just pencil marks. I couldn't stop cleaning til the tank ran out (and house work isn't my strong suit!). Highly recommended! (Note: this is my first steam cleaner, so can't compare to other brands).

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth every penny., May 27, 2005

I bought a White Wing Vapor Steam Cleaner a few months ago because I don't really like to clean. After reading up on vapor steam cleaners and this model in particular, it seemed that this was going to be a fast, effective way to clean most of the house. This machine comes with many more attachments than you would get with most of the other models I looked into, and the attachments are extremely sturdy and high quality. Nothing about this machine is flimsy. I love the idea of cleaning with no chemicals . . . you use only distilled water with a vapor steam cleaner. Very safe if, for instance, you have pets who lick water off the floor of the tub. You don't really want your pets lapping up harsh chemical cleaning agents. The White Wing does wonders on my floors. I have an old vinyl floor in my kitchen that has ALWAYS looked dirty since the day I bought the house. The White Wing picks up an amazing amount of dirt every time I clean the floor with it, and the floor actually looks clean since I started steam cleaning it. The same for my hard wood floors. I've also found that the steam cleaner picks up a surprising amount of dirt from the couch, love seat, and living room rug, even though I vacuum those areas a couple of times a week. The steam cleaner is definitely the easiest way to clean my barbecue grill and to detail my car . . . I steam clean the dash board and leather seats. (The instructional manual says not to use vapor steam on leather furniture in your home, but that it is fine for leather upholstery in the car.) I recommend picking up a package of extra terry cloth towels (easy to find at a local discount store in the hardware section). The White Wing comes with six terry cloth towels, but I use about a dozen towels each time I clean, and then I throw them in the washing machine. I also suggest watching the instructional video and reading through the manual before using the machine. A co-worker bought a White Wing herself after seeing mine, and I have a friend who has borrowed mine twice to clean up pet mishaps and bathroom floor tile grout. Very enthusiastic responses from both of them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Appliance of the Year, November 9, 2006
This review is from: WhiteWing Steamer - Vapor Steam Cleaner (Kitchen)
I've had my steamer for about 6 weeks and I highly recommend it. I have an older house where there's always dust and icky corners and worn out tile, etc. The steamer gets it clean in a way that no amount of scrubbing can accomplish. My bathroom, window wells, louver doors, stove top, microwave, kitchen sink, blinds have never been cleaner. It's great for my wood floors as well. (Gets the gunk out of the edges and little cracks.) I didn't want to fool around with the $99 steamers after I started comparing features, etc. Not only is the product great but the allergybuyersclub seller was great too. There was a small crack in one of the wheels and they sent a replacement right away. I didn't even have to send the steamer back. I couldn't live without it. It gives me a 'new house' feel in my 50 year old classic home.

5.0 out of 5 stars the cleanest I've seen yet, April 21, 2008

I was researching cleaning and sanitizing options for a relative who is going to have chemotherapy, and kept reading about vapor steam cleaners. I was so impressed with the reviews that I got one myself. In three days, I've cleaned years of grime from an extra bathroom, steamed a filthy carpet, cleaned a "clean" linoleum hall, and sanitized several pieces of furniture. The White Wing is amazing! It comes with a bucketful of attachments, all of high quality; you'll need a while to sort out what is best for each cleaning job. I've never seen anything that can clean as effectively as this device, and with no chemicals. I even got splashes of very old paint off a bathroom sink.

Be sure to watch the video and read the directions first. This thing really heats up the steam, and you do not want to get burned. For certain surfaces, such as painted walls, you will need to attach towels to the cleaning brush to protect the surface. Wait until the pressure gauge goes down ALL THE WAY before trying to remove the cap,or you'll get Old Faithful in your living room. (I know firsthand.) Get an extra stack of small terry towels (auto parts places have them)to use with the bigger brushes. You will be appalled at how dirty the towels get after a pass or two over what seemed like a clean floor. Do get a very heavy duty extension cord if you're going to use one; this machine draws a lot of current. For the same reasaon, the manual says not to have anything else plugged in to the circuit the steamer is going to be using.

The only drawback is cost; at $450, this is not a cheap device. But it's still half the cost of most other vapor steamers, and it really delivers when it's time to clean.

After looking at the available choices of vapor steam cleaners, I was obviously attracted by the Whitewing's price. The Ladybug is, by all accounts, a great cleaner; however, for me it's price was prohibitive.

The great thing about the Whitewing Steamer? It actually works, and works well. It's a snap to use, fill it up (distilled water preferred!), turn it on and let the pressure build. Then, use one of the many handy and clever attachments included to attack the area needing cleaning. The steamer was spectacular in restoring my stove to near new condition, and I'm talking CAKED on burner grates, and a disaster inside the oven as well. Nothing else got this clean, but the steamer did. Additionally, the steamer worked wonders on my tile and grout floors, my granite countertops, and cleaned hard water stains and buildup from my aquariums and shower stall. It also is great at spot-cleaning carpets and rugs and automobile upholstery. For the money, this product does wonders and is now the integral device for cleaning up around the house. Highly recommended.

this is my second steamer. This unit is built well and I know will not break easy. I am so addicted to these steamers. My tile fools never looked better. I though my floors use to be clean- but now I am almost sick to see the kind of dirt this steamer pulls off my floor. This is a great home unit and I would recommend for a mid-entry level steamer that is built to last. Easy to use.

I only gave 4 stars since the first one I received malfunctioned but they sent me a new unit quickly and it has been working good. The first one may have been an older model that was having problems because it seemed they knew what was wrong? It cleans my bathroom very good but it doesn't remove stains from my kitchen counters and the attachment is clumsy to use on cabinet doors since it is hard to get in the area around the handle. I found the triangle attachment very clumsy to use and has a tendancy to turn toward you which is not dangerous if you have it diapered with a towel but without it it may pose a hazard.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unbelievable Product and Customer Service!!!!!!!!!!, June 5, 2011
This review is from: WhiteWing Steamer - Vapor Steam Cleaner (Kitchen)
I have owned my WhiteWing steamer for more than 10 years. I LOVE IT!! It's one of the best purchases I ever made. I'm a person who waits too long between cleaning sessions. The steamer is perfect for that!
I had a problem with it 5 years ago and called their customer service department-- GOT A LIVE PERSON IMMEDIATELY who gave me to a tech; we fixed it on the phone! But wait it gets better. What follows is a customer service story YOU JUST DON'T HEAR ANYMORE!!!!
Sadly, I have recently had another problem (this after 10 years, mind you) but couldn't find my paperwork to contact their customer service department. When I googled WhiteWing, I could find no company info. My pessimism kicked in. I figured they were bought out; didn't care about customer service anymore and made sure you couldn't find them for repair. I went on Allergy Clubs website (which is where I purchased my steamer) to further investigate. Up pops a chat window, "can I help you"? I was quickly given the phone number for Eurosteam, makers of WhiteWing. More pessimism, 'they were bought out, won't care'. Called them STILL GOT A LIVE PERSON ANSWERING THE CALL who spoke perfect English, no accent. She immediately gave me to the repairs department. Jerry gave me a list of things to try. "If it doesn't work call back". It didn't. I called back, got the same woman answering the phone who gave me right to Jerry. (This seems to be the true life story of the Maytag Repairman.) My valve was stuck. It couldn't be fixed by phone. BUT HERE's THE KICKER-- I could mail it back (cost me $11) and they would fix it for $50!! Knock me over with a feather. In this consumable, if it breaks buy a new one society . . . Here is a company that actually does repairs.
This product is made so well it's worth repairing 10 years later!!!! HA!!! I know it's expensive but I have bought many expensive items that are not repairable- start with --find a repair person these days.
THANK YOU WhiteWing and Allergy Club! I shall sing your praises and actually write a review on this unbelievable product and company.
PS: Jerry informed me that they get very, very few of these steamers in for repair. "It's really rare". And you know what, I believe him. You will too when you get it and see and feel it. No cheap plastic parts. It's made to last and last!

I have a small parrot and cleaning his cage has always been both a chore and a worry given the effect chemicals can have on pet birds. With this steam cleaner, the bird cage comes clean easily (and you know this is a miracle if you've ever tried to clean dried bird poo!)and with absolutely no chemicals. The heat also sanitizes the cage. Additionally, I use it to clean my hardwood floors. It picks up the dirt without using a lot of water and leaves my floors clean and streak free!

4.0 out of 5 stars Very pleased with teh performance, December 17, 2010

This review is from: WhiteWing Steamer - Vapor Steam Cleaner (Kitchen)
I have used this to clean spots on carpets, clean wood floors, marble floors and complete sanitation of the bathrooms and showers. I have been very pleased with its performance. All of the different attachments make the work even more effective. The one issue I have is the pressure control feature doesnt seem to be very reliable. It will lose pressure to below 2 after a few minutes of using. I have not been able to get the pressure beyond 4 even when I turn the control all of the way up. It is a very simple machine to operate which is great but the pressure control issue is the only concern I have. I'm very happy with the cleaning power it has.
