Book Description

1861977395 978-1861977397 October 30, 2004
Although racism is a problem almost everywhere in the world, it is most acute with displaced indigenous people. White Australia, with its terrible treatment of Aborigines, is an extreme case study. In this incisive essay, Germaine Greer shows how it could, should, and must be different. The problem is not the Aborigines but the “settler society” and what it has done to the country. By extension, her line of reasoning applies to race relations throughout the world, and she argues with wit, anger, passion, and supremely memorable prose. Germaine Greer's many books include The Beautiful Boy, The Obstacle Race, The Whole Woman, and the feminist classic, The Female Eunuch, one of the most widely read books of its day.

“A provocative essay.” -- Kirkus Reviews

From the Publisher

Although racism is a problem almost everywhere in the world, it is most acute with displaced indigenous people. White Australia, with its terrible treatment of Aborigines, is an extreme case study. In this incisive essay, Germaine Greer shows how it could, should, and must be different. The problem is not the Aborigines but the “settler society” and what it has done to the country. By extension, her line of reasoning applies to race relations throughout the world, and, as always with Germaine Greer, she argues with wit, anger, passion, and supremely memorable prose. Germaine Greer is one of the most brilliant and original thinkers of our age. Her many books include The Beautiful Boy, The Obstacle Race, The Whole Woman, and the feminist classic, The Female Eunuch, one of the most widely read books of its day.

4.0 out of 5 stars How & why get Native awareness in OZ, August 13, 2009

WHITEFELLA JUMP UP - Germaine Greer '04 inspired this here

Her theme here is white folks in Australia have invaded, colonized & ruining the native Aboriginal culture & ecology for 200 years, she persuades them to need detaching from UK crown as colony & naturalize with land & black culture living there to get honest soul folks. That sound ridiculous, but as spiritual rant & rave its brilliant polemic for natural roots, self forgiveness & mutual-respect for original people & native habitats. I compare that with how our ancestor pilgrims & pioneers destroyed & still killing Mother Nature for progress, while native Indians here are suffering on the bad lands we imprisoned them on. As we rape & ruin remaining nature & our instincts ignoring our karma desiring taste treats & toxic tech denying they cause our epidemic empire diseases.

So I claim US is global electrified defacto colony of Euro ancestors, banks & Germanic super tech, secret societies, Catholic church & Jewish controls. Our military is constantly threatening all nations to join & buy our war economy of competing in capitalism with persuasive politicians we trust to vote for & pay taxes to.

Our deep medical birth trama, broken maternal bonds with loving heart from imprinting in toxic wombs of modern mothers living in power grids for generations mutating after centuries of bad food, fearing God & obeying laws so unnatural in schools, business, recreation & at home we forgot our soul. So totally loving nature with lifelolng learning is impossible unless deep healing opens our heart & mind to relearning our childhood spirit of free will loving.

To actually become native in our land of the free needs healing & divorce from American dream, weaning form toxic `sugar tit' stores, fast cars & cell phones to connect for security, survival & fake fun. Still Mother Nature is calling us to naturalize our instincts deep healing old trama & loving her eternal balancing cycles. Becoming native, organic & blissful is deeper than any psychology, therapy & diet we need now for Rebirthing our life goals, needs & creativity.

Like long treks & living in forest, shores, desert, Mtns, jungles, etc while doing deep body healing & spiritual learning. 1000s of us are doing those far in bush learning how Permaculture works with natural patterns & cycles of growing thru seasons. But most of us get sick there, maybe healing it naturally ' ignoring the deep old emotional tramas of growing up in city stresses, even abused & neglected by faithful American dreaming parents holidays.
