Product Description

Hard Bound notebooks were designed for those that demand more from their notebooks. A matte, laminated hard cover encloses 100 pages of the smooth Whitelines paper, giving the notebooks the same binding as a traditional hard bound book. The cover protects the pages and increases the life span of your notebook, allowing it to accompany you throughout the years. Whitelines, an innovative concept that originated in Sweden, is pushing the standards for the notebook industry. The concept is simple: Dark lines distract, Whitelines don't. Instead of white paper with dark lines, Whitelines notebooks are comprised of paper with a light gray shaded background with white lines. The design of the paper allows your thoughts and ideas to stand off the page without fighting with the lines for attention, improving the readability of your writing. The toned background of the paper works to reduce glare making the unique design of the paper easier on the eyes. And not only is Whitelines working harder to support you and your ideas, but it is working harder to support the environment; the paper is processed and printed in a mill in the South of Sweden with zero carbon emissions. Notebook includes Whitelines patented paper for the greatest writing experience and an orange marker ribbon allowing you to pick up exactly where you left off.

This is the hard bound version of the Whitelines books. I really love the white lines on the slightly gray squares. Everything I write and draw stands out a lot more than the standard graph paper. The squares are perfectly sized for journaling and drawing. The hard bound is well done with good stitching. It comes with a built in cloth bookmark, which is very nice. My only complaint is that I would probably prefer the soft bound or spiral one over this simply because I like my books/journals to be able to stay open on their own. The binding is tight enough that it closes unless you hold it open. It's not so tight that you have to exert a lot of pressure to keep it open. If you are looking for a great hard bound squared (graph paper) book, this is it!

I've been trying different notebooks and have tried Moleskines and Leuchtturm1917s. So far the Whitelines notebook seems to have the best paper from fountain pen use. The best feature of the paper is that there is no bleed through from my medium nib Lamy Safari using Noodles Black Ink. Moleskine bleed through is the worst but Leuchtturm1917 is not bad. The paper is grey with white lines, not like the yellowish paper on other notebooks. Seemed a little weird at first but have grown to like it. It will be a personal preference weather you will like the paper color or not.

Although the binding on the Whitelines notebook seems to very sturdy (we'll see how it holds up after six months, the other two held up very well) , however, it is not as convenient as the other two because the pages tend to close and does not open flat like the others. I'll have to try their other bindings next time.

It also does not have an elastic band to secure the notebook close or an inside pocket to hold loose paper like the others (could be a patent thing). Not a big deal but yet another convenience factor.

Overall a great notebook.

Like others have said, the white grid on a shaded background is GREAT. Paper is nice and thick and I had less bleed through when using liquid ink pens than I have with Moleskine notebooks. The binding is decent but not exceptional, it is prone to corner fraying when transported loose in a tote bag, but it will hold up I think for the life of the notebook. I do like the Moleskine binding and covers better, and wish they could offer the whitelines-style paper. That would be my perfect combination.

The "white lines" concept is a nice idea, and the pages feel fine and the pen glides across. But there's no pocket in the back for cards/scraps of paper, and you have to force the book to lay flat. I've used this for about six months now, and the spine is an absolute mess.

If you must write in a fancy notebook (as I do), stick with your Moleskines and Leuchtturms. They have all the features I mentioned above and don't cost much more.

I use my stencils and imagination in this book. They are made with little squares so its easier to create balance.

For the price, it's probably not worth it - The binding wasn't great, and the cover attracts dents and markings like crazy. Cool notebook though.

I got this because I hoped for something to use with my Evernote Premium. Sadly I found the hard binding, the quality of the craftsmanship and the paper to be sorely wanting for easy writing. I tried to like it, but it simply would not work for me...

High quality binding and attractive pages. I'm using this for my Gregg Shorthand studies. It's great. The white lined graphing paper layout is really helpful.

It would be awesome if they made a leather edition.
