The paper in these notebooks is a pale gray and the grid lines are white. Thus, when you write on the paper, it's your writing and drawing that stand out -- not a bunch of blue lines. If you photocopy your work, the grid lines don't show up at all.

I'm a teacher, and I gave several of these notebooks to a middle school student with ADD. His math grade sky-rocked. Suddenly, his numbers were lined up and his work looked neat because he had the grid lines to guide him. More importantly, it was easy for him to read his work after the fact because the paper itself didn't distract his attention.

I highly recommend all whitelines products!

I recently finished my first 160 page notebook: within my profession, I'm a serious note-taker. The Whitelines delivers. I'm going back for more.

This is wonderful paper. I prefer the wire-bound A4 square paper but I believe all their papers have similar ingredients.
The paper takes pencil, fountain ink, gel ink, and ball point(boo) very well. Try finding paper or a journal that does that?

I'm a designer and I use these squared notebooks all the time as a sketchpad and for notes. Besides being utterly beautiful objects, these notebooks are well made with excellent quality materials. I've found the spiral design to be the most useful, easy and sturdy; I can flip it fully open and not have to worry about putting too much pressure on the spine or the perforated pages. The light grey paper and white lines these notebooks employ are (as advertised) much less distracting, and if you're drawing/sketching out an idea it is extremely helpful. It's also easier to look at the paper in full sun. And when you scan drawings into your computer, ramp up the whites on the Levels control, the white lines disappear and your pen/pencil lines stay dark. Brilliant design.
