The fourth and final volume in the Seasons of the Whitetail series continues to provide information essential to understanding America's favorite game animal. This volume examines the summer months, a relatively easy season in the life of the whitetail, despite their need for constant vigilance. June is the peak population month, a time when the does concentrate on nurturing offspring while the bucks are developing antlers. Summer heat restricts the deer from much moving about during the daylight hours but results in more than normal activity after nightfall. This volume replicates the format of the previous award-winning volumes, and it is illustrated with vivid color images by some outstanding wildlife photographers. Although the whitetail deer are one of this country's wildlife success stories, a lack of understanding has contributed to many deer populations that are socially as well as nutritionally out of balance. The information in this work should aid in solving these problems.

Whitetail Summer is the fourth and final volume in the award-winning, haunting beautiful "Seasons of the Whitetail" series by famed researcher and author John J. Ozoga. The authoritative, easy-to-read text is enhanced throughout with stunning full-color photographs depicting the whitetail's fascination biology and behavior, including surprising interactions and a highly refined social structure. The three other volumes in this not-to-be-missed series from Willow Creek Press are Whitetail Autumn (007-X $29. 50), Whitetail Winter (027-4 $29. 50), and Whitetail Spring (039-8 $29. 50). Whitetail Summer and its three companion titles are highly recommended for the armchair naturalist, and all personal, zoological, or public library wildlife reference book collections on the whitetail deer. --
