I purchased this to replace a metal and plastic over the door shoe rack. The one I replaced was bulky yet fragile, and periodically I'd brush against it in the wrong way. A major shoe avalanche would ensue (I'm still missing a cat from the last time) and the whole thing would collapse onto the closet floor in a pile of plastic and metal rods necessitating a tedious session of piecing the thing back together and rehanging it. Mercifully, the rack finally broke and I purchased this one.
It's very easy to assemble; the hooks arrive in one of the pockets, slip through holes in the top of the bag, position on the back of a door and away you go! There's a little clip inside each hook to keep it from shifting on the door, which is a nice touch and very effective. It takes up much less room than my previous behemoth, and I'm able to fit a pair of shoes into each pocket, making it hold 24 pairs instead of the 12 in the description. Granted these are summer shoes and sandals, and I have smallish feet, but it still holds twice as much as I expected. It's much more attractive than the previous shoerack--if the closet door is slightly ajar, you see a linen profile instead of heels.
I'm very pleased and will probably replace all my metal shoe racks with these.

In an attempt to organize my closets, I purchased the Whitmor Over-the-Door Shoe Organizer. I hesitated because in the past similar organizers have proved to be flimsy and junky looking with a short useful life. I need not have been concerned. This organizer is very well made and sturdy. In addition, it took less than a minute from the box to the door. Simply put the hooks through the eyelets and hang. A big plus is that this organizer is as attractive as a shoe organizer can be. In summary, it's sturdy and it doesn't look cheap. I am very pleased.

It never occurred to me to check for the size of the hooks so I was surprised when they didn't fit. Before buying this product make sure your door is under 1 3/8 inches thick or you will be sorely disappointed.

When the product first arrived, I was happy to see it was made of eco-friendly Linen and Metal Hooks. Upon installation however, I found the self tensions hooks were not deburred enough and were scrapping my door. The design of the hooks are just odd to begin with, much better thought could have been put into their design. I'm torn because I like the Linen part of the product, it's strong, sturdy, and reasonably made for the price. The hooks on the other hand are just so disappointing, I'm considering looking elsewhere for 3rd party hooks that tension to the door better and don't cause damage.
Wish I could give this a better review, but can't recommend this product because of the cheap hooks.

When I was no longer able to navigate the stairs in our condo, we moved to the little bedroom downstairs, which is barely big enough for our bed. Fishing under the bed for shoes wasn't working since I'm in a wheelchair and my husband is very tall. I tried to put a pair of shoes in one pocket, but wasn't able to with all of my shoes, or at all with my husband's shoes, I wear a 7.5 woman's. The organizer seems well made and $17.99 Prime a great deal. Now if only I could figure out a way to be able to open the closet door without smashing into the bed....
