Cheap Solution,

This review is from: Whitney Design 07137 Silver Triple Laundry Sorter Plus (Kitchen)
This cart is cheaply made in that the wheels fall off after less than six months and the screws come loose, giving you the feeling it'll fall apart. If asked, I wouldn't recommend it.

I have been wanting a triple sorter for a long time but have been price shopping for it everywhere- was concerned about some of the reviews here, but decided to take a chance. I'm glad I did! It was EASY to assemble, took me about 10 minutes, it is lightweight and rolls around my basement floor without a problem.
PLUSSES: -Easy to assemble with clear instructions - and the only "tool" that is needed is PROVIDED IN THE BOX! -Light enough to be carried up and down stairs (empty of course) without breaking your neck -Cheapest triple sorter I have found in 4 months of price-shopping! I only paid 9.99 for this and the next cheapest one I saw was 50% more (AFTER markdown at Target) and didn't have wheels! MINUSES: -Wish the bag compartments were just a little bigger, but then it would be hard to carry. Although maybe now I won't let myself get so behind on the laundry! -Many have commented that they don't like that you have to "disassemble" the cart to take the bag off to wash. Well, all you have to do to get the bag off is unscrew a few small screws with a tiny tool that is provided in the box! I even taped the tool right to the metal frame for easy access. That's it! Would take about 2 minutes to get the bag off and screw back together! Also, since I'm ONLY putting the dirty clothes in there I don't see the point of washing it all the time just to fill it again with dirty clothes. HOWEVER, if I had a baby I would probably not want this - THAT kind of dirty would require washing the bag all the time. I'll mention too that I AM picky about products, and have returned poor quality products to Amazon before (which BTW they handled superbly), and I can confidently recommend this. UPDATE: Have had it over a year now, with no problems. No wheels came off, didn't fall apart. Willing to bet that the reviewers who had wheels come off etc, didn't put it together well in the first place...I still love mine for the cheap price!!

i barely used this sorter a couple times when the frame started shifting back and forth & the wheels started falling off. what a huge waste of money. i will now spring for a more expensive one & hope the quality is better.

This clothes sorter works well for me. I use it on a regular basis. However, when I received this product parts of it were missing. I called Whitney Design and customer support was very good. The replacement parts arrived quickly. My sorter is sturdy enough and I had no problems putting it together.

Hated It,

This is assembled using screws. I had to repeatedly get the small allen wrench used to tighten the screws, and was forever struggling to get it in the screw hole and tighten. there are tons of screws and the screws are always too loose to properly manuver. Spring for the more expensive ones that dont use screws. I wasted $$ on this plus shipping. Wish I had just gotten the nicer one to start with.

This is a great hamper in theory; however, the reality of it is disappointing. After about a month of use, the screws all loosened leaving the hamper a wobbly mess. I continuously have to tighten the screws even now. After about 2 months the wheels began to fall off while rolling my laundry to the laundry room. At first I thought it was a one time incident until they all began to randomly fall off one by one. I've found it easier to take the wheels off completely and carry it even though it can be rather heavy.

Once assembled, this becomes quite a sturdy sorter. Rollers are smooth and capacity seems adequate. All in all, at <10$ its a super value. Similar sorters go for $25-$30...
One thing that could have earned it 5-stars is that, it would've helped if one was able to easily remove the fabric bag for washing/cleaning. One has to remove 8 screws to get the bag off for a wash.

I love the fact that there are 3 compartments to put your dirty laundry in. It's got the wheels for easily moving your laundry to your washing machine (unless you have to go up and down the stairs). But in this case, the convenience comes with a cost. The frame is poorly designed. Other reviews mentioned that the wheels were not sturdy enough, but I haven't had that problem (yet). The frame however, CONSTANTLY needs to be tightened. The metal is cheap and light, and feels like it can break easily. If you don't mind the weekly maintenance, then by all means, it will be great to have around the apartment.

This is a nice sorter for a small family, it fits very good in my laundry room and makes the laundry chore alot easier now. Love havinf it already sorted. The wheels make it easy to move across tile flooring, not sure how it would work on carpet. It wasn't very hard to put together either.

DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM!,

I bought 2 of these for my wife to replace a couple of similar carts we had gotten at Target. Don't let the $10 price fool you, they aren't worth the effort it take to add them to your cart.
First, since I ordered 2, they shipped separately. I got the first one, and assembled it no problem. So far so good right? Wrong. I got the second one the next day and went to assemble it, but was missing all of the screws and wheels. The only thing in the box were the rails and bag. It looked like someone had built both ends of the box out of tape. Apparently, most of the contents fell out in transit or in the warehouse. I noticed that the first box was in the same shape, but we had somehow managed to get all of the parts through some miracle. After having the first cart for a day or two, I realized how shoddy these things were. The first time my wife put some laundry on the cart and moved it across the room, it almost fell apart. See, the tubing that the cart is made from has these inserts in the ends that the screws go into when you assemble the cart. Problem is, if you move the cart over rough carpet, or heaven forbid, hit a sock on the floor, the inserts the start to pull out. By the time I'd tightened all the screws TWICE, the entire thing was falling apart. I have an engineering degree, and I couldn't keep the stupid thing from going to pieces. Problem is, it was only 2 days after I'd opened the box. I guess there's a reason that these carts cost 1/4 of the others. Do yourself a favor, and get the Target StoreIt Laundry Sorter. |
