Book Description

November 22, 2010
Beginning in a boarding school in India, this is the story of a young Somali who encountered Christ in a way that was to profoundly impact and transform his life. Who are you Lord? is the denouement of a twenty-four year spiritual trek across countries as diverse as India, Norway and Ethiopia. In developing his theological arguments, the author draws on fields as diverse as sociology, education, science and philosophy. This book portrays the contemporary status of Western Christianity through the lens of a Somali convert. In affirming the salvific truths of the Bible, some of the questions it grapples with include: Is science commensurate with faith? Can civil religion function as a viable alternative to genuine Biblical faith? Is God still supernaturally interacting with people in the 21st century?

4.0 out of 5 stars Must read for Spirit-thirsty Christians, December 2, 2010
This review is from: Who Are You, Lord? - A Somali Encounters Christ (Paperback)
There are many theology books around. There are many personal testimonies published. There are a lot of books about the deep spiritual truths of Christ. There is quite a selection of books even about muslims coming to Christ. Yet all of them fall short compared to this little unassuming booklet. Why? I found the power of the Word of God present on its very pages.

The former muslim and born Somali Paul Thomas takes the reader on a short but mind-blowing spiritual journey to the real Christ - The One God he personally encountered as a 14 year old muslim boy in a vision. From there, his 20 year ministry experience unfolds to reveal profound truths about the "faith that was once delivered to the saints". Paul Thomas (now an evangelist active in the UK, and working on a PhD in education) reminds Christians of the foundational faith that was preached by the apostles (contrasting the watered down version found in most modern churches today).

Short but crystal clear chapters on the mystery of baptism, the identity of Jesus Christ and the truth of the One God expound what hundreds of years of church history have covered with dust. "My people are dying because lack of knowledge" the prophet Hosea cried out. Well, this book might be one step into the light again for a Christianity in crisis. An absolute "need to read"!

Johannes from the Netherlands.
