Book Description

*Strong sexual content and mature situations. Recommended for ages 18+*

Eliza Smith has never been the one to seek a relationship. She’s never dated a guy in her life, never even hugged a man (outside of her father/manager of the hot and popular rock band, FireNine) but when she decides to spend her summer on tour with FireNine, it all changes. Eliza really gets to meet Gage Grendel - her former crush from high school and the lead singer of FireNine - and witness sides to him to which she’ll begin to truly despise.
She’ll ignore him, she’ll dislike his ways, she’ll do anything to try and stay away from him until Gage finally gets her to slip up and give in. She agrees on a casual fling with Gage, but soon they’ll both see how the fling will blur into something they can’t control and when it’s finally time for Eliza to go and accomplish her own dreams, she’ll know there’s more she took from Gage than she ever thought possible.

4.0 out of 5 stars 4.5 angsty rock stars July 18, 2013
By K. Bias
Format:Kindle Edition
4.5 stars
This is the first of the Fire Nine series. First of all, I warn you, Gage and Eliza's story will not be wrapped up in this book.

This is a Rock Star meets quiet solitary girl type of story. Eliza is a loner. She is an artist, has had a tragic past, has closed herself off and has trust issues. She is talked into going on tour with her Dad and the band he manages, Fire Nine. So now she has to spend more time with Gage Grendel, band lead singer and her High School crush. And that terrifies her.

(Quote)There were only a few words that could describe him; hot, mouthwatering, and way out of my league.

At first I had a little difficulty identifying with the main characters especially Gage. He was cocky, arrogant, man whorish and did not seem affected by much. But as they spend more time together, their chemistry is undeniable. But neither of them think they can or will do a relationship. They fight , they come back together, and blow apart. Somewhere along the way, I really started to like Gage. He began to show his feelings and emotions more. And there were a couple of scenes that made me swoon and one that literally ripped my heart out.

(Quote)The times when I couldn't stand him , I'd tell myself repeatedly it's who he is. His ways--the sleeping around, flirting, partying, drinking and hurting girls...It was all him because it was the only way he could forget-the only way he wouldn't remember his past...

Eliza was a little hard to warm up to as well. Not only that she was book wormish, a loner, and quiet. But her trust issues and limited sharing of feelings got annoying. It was up and down, back and forth, and once things seemed to start to settle down then something would happen to start it all again.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW... July 18, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition

Just wow...

I don't think there are words to describe how much I loved it. I devoured it in less than a day. The moment I discovered the ARC in my mailbox, I started reading and put off my entire life to keep going. I pushed aside working and eating and sometimes even breathing, because I just didn't have time for those meaningless activities while I was touring with FireNine...

And what a tour it was! I was up and then I was down. I was laughing, then I was holding back my screams. I was smiling like crazy, then I was crying so hard I couldn't see the screen. I don't think my stomach has ever fluttered as hard and as often as it did while I was reading Who He Is. But even though my emotions were all over the place with that one, I never once had the urge to put it down. It never was too much or too little, always just right.

I'm reeeeally (really!) picky when it comes to my real-life boyfriends. I'm just as picky when it comes to my book boyfriends. I may have a huge crush on VEERY many fictional guys, but it takes something more for me to actually call them my book boyfriends. They are and will forever be a part of my heart, and honestly, I don't give those pieces away very willingly... So when Gage Grendel snapped up one of them, I was just as surprised as Eliza. I fell for him so suddenly and hard that there are only a few other book boyfriends who have ever carved themselves so deep inside me.

Would it be very mean if I totally "forgot" to mention that it has kind of a cliffhanger ending? Because, really, it wasn't THAT bad. It wasn't the kind of cliffhanger to make me want to tear off some heads and hold the author at gunpoint while she writes the next one. I can't even hate her, because I think it was the perfect ending for the first book. Even if my heart was left in shreds...

Should you read it? OHMYGOOOOOOD! YES!! YES! YES!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love! July 18, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I have to confess that I have been avoiding Rockstar romances lately because I am kind of over them. That is until I was given an ARC of Who He Is in exchange for my honest opinion.

I loved this book! It was raw and emotional. There was no instant love. You watched Eliza(Ellie) and Gage grow throughout the book. I really appreciated the fact that it wasn't instant love and instant change. Neither of them just dropped who they were to change for the other. There was a gradual more natural change that took place.

I am extremely happy with the ending. I know people won't agree with me but the way the author wrote the ending made me love Ellie more. I don't want to give anything away. I actually felt proud of Ellie.

The band and Ben are awesome secondary characters! I think Montana may be my favorite (besides Gage and Ellie) but I really want to know what is up with Roy!!

I cannot wait to read more of Ellie and Gage's story and of course the rest of the band and Ben too. I know it will be as emotional as this first book was. S.Q. Williams really knows how to write to make the reader feel every emotion the characters are feeling.

1.0 out of 5 stars Have I read this before? August 2, 2013
By Pearl
Format:Kindle Edition
I am a sucker for a story about rockers. However, it felt like this story has been done to death! You have the virginal emotionally unavailable Molly sue leading lady (who finds herself on a tour bus for 2 months) and the man whore rock star with emotional damage. I honestly did not like Gage at all. He had a majorly flawed personality. He was selfish and egotistical. Usually that changes as the story progresses, but that did not happen in this book. I felt like Eliza didn't really like Gage as a person, but was sexually attracted to him. And the whole penelope thing...are you kidding me??? No way!! Anyway...I didn't feel like this was much of a romance/love story, but that's just my opinion. I guess I'm just getting bored with the same old thing. Maybe it's time I try something else...
