Peacock Mania,

Do you ever buy a CD and then find that you are unable to stop playing it? And it becomes kind of an addiction until you almost want to just keep playing it until you get a little sick of it so you can stop? This is one of those CD's. It's beautiful from start to finish. I appreciate the bare, stripped down quality to some of the more emotional songs because these days it just feels like no matter how beautiful an artist's voice is, it gets covered up with too much production.
This CD is quite different from her first one in a way that I found refreshing. It's a little more grown up. I found it remniscent of Joni Mitchell and even Vonda Shepherd (before Ally McBeal). Just straight ahead masterful song writing with a beautiful voice that pulls at you and brings you into her emotional space. So, I guess what I'm saying is...I like it.

Her newest album showcases the range and diversity of her talents as both a singer and songwriter. The resonance and purity in Alice's voice becomes the focus of her newest songs. The brilliance of this album lies in that each song successfully progresses into the next one to form a cohesive whole. Yet each song has a slightly different influence from jazz to classic Seventies to folk to contemporary singer songwriter. The accompanying acoustic piano and strings do not detract from her indescribably beautiful and soulful voice, whish is one of the strengths of the album. Many tracks are in the same tradition as the song "Northern Star" from her second CD.

Alice Peacock once again shines on this album! The songs, her voice, and the artful and engaging musicianship shine through. This compliments Alice's voice beautifully. Who I Am is one of those inspiring songs, I can listen to it when I'm having a bad day and am unsure of myself, it brings me to tears. This song is just beautiful! one of the most beautiful lyrics is "In the ways of life and art, I trust the wisdom of my heart"
Who I Am is classic Alice, with the seventies feel, but on a more updated level. The songs are like a snapshot in to Alice's life. If you are a fan, this album will inspire you! My favorite tracks are: Taught Me Well, If You Could Only Se Love, Time, Here I Go Again, Runaway Day, Different From the Rest, Who I Am and Anyone But Me. If you were a fan before this release, you'll be even more of one afterwards!

After nearly wearing out my last two Alice C.D.'s, I got "Who I Am" last week and it hasn't left my player since! I absolutely LOVE this album! It is amazing all the way. The listener feels like they are invited into Alice's life for these special songs and we gain insight into her thoughts, feelings, and experiences. The musicianship is exceptional and each song flows to the next on this album. It reminds me of some of the classics from the 70's (Carole King, for example), yet it is not a replica of anything...Alice is still an original. It is up-to-date and feels fresh. My favorites on this C.D. are hard to choose...I think "Time" is beautiful, but there are too many great ones to pick a favorite for me. To summarize: Buy this! You will love it!

I loved this CD. I am recently aquainted with her music and I am sorry I didn't hear of her sooner. She has an awesome voice and the melodies are flawless. Her music has a great flow and feel to it. My favorite songs are "Time" and "Taught me Well". This is definitely one to have in your collection!

Great Artist,
This review is from: Who I Am (Audio CD)
Found her by accident because I loved Eastmountainsouth. She was touring w/Peter from EMS and since I was checking out his new music, I thought I would check her out too. She has a great sound and style. The music truly speaks to you. I could relate to a lot of the lyrics. This is my favorite of her three albums but they all are worth a chance.

This is an artist that I found through pandora.com. I like the "Sunflower" song so much, I bought her CD.
As for the item that I received, the UPC symbol was scratched in such a way as to make me think that this was a promotional copy of the CD that someone got their hands on and sold. Thanks!

I have been looking forward to Ms. Peacocks lastest for quite a while & I'm pleased to say I was not the least bit dissapointed.
The songs a bit more mello than her previous album but the content nonetheless is quality. You can hear that a lot of hard work went into this album. Favorite song: Baby come back. I just don't understand why Alice Peacock's music is hardly known and not played on the airwaves. Something is deffently wrong!

Alice Peacock's "Who I Am" is a wonderful new discovery for me. "Sunflower" has a lovely melody with a pastoral theme backed by
Danny Howe's acoustic guitar that brings to mind the melody for Paul McCartney's "Mother Nature's Son" as Alice sings, "Isn't it amazing? What you see." "Baby Come Back" is another favorite of mine that makes me hit the repeat button, "I was wrong & I know it; So much pain in your eyes & I've no way of knowing." "Runaway Day" has a sunny melody and a little trill in the chorus that brings to mind the title track from Karen Jacobsen's CD Being Brave, which I love. In Alice's song, her piano keeps the melody as her vocals exude sunshine, "Just for the day let's runaway; won't you play with me? Down by the sea, I'll show you how happy we can be." The other tracks on the CD are very good, some are a bit sad. Overall, this is an excellent discovery! Enjoy!

This CD, the 3rd from Ms. Peacock, is amazing. Even more polished than her first two albums, the range is also impressive. My favorite is the haunting melody of #4, "Time". She has a beautiful voice and thoughtful, intelligent lyrics - what a great combination!
