The Dogs Bite!!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Who Let the Dogs Out (Audio CD)
After listening to the first song, "Who Let The Dogs Out", I immediately got out and bought this CD. The cool lyrics with the catchy chorus just makes ya wanna tap your foot. After listening to "Who Let The Dogs Out" a couple of times, i eventually moved onto the rest of the CD. What a disappointment!! The rest of the songs are dull, meaningless and are NOTHING compared to the first track. If you want "Who Let The Dogs Out", just by the single version or listen to it on the radio, cause the rest of the CD is not worth it!

Professional Quality Work,

I think the reason for some of the bad reviews is the buyer's expectations. They are buying the CD based on hearing the song Who Let The Dogs Out and assume the whole CD contains humorous novelty songs. I bought the CD to get the title song and listened to it all. All lyrics seem well thought out. There's good harmony. And, I give 5 stars to the studio & mixing work.We all sometimes get CDs with crummy songs mixed very well or excellent songs poorly mixed. This CD is good value for the money because the Baha Men put a lot of thought into assembling it. I especially enjoy cut 12 the "Mad Mix" of Who Let The Dogs Out. If you enjoy the title song, get this CD. You won't be disappointed.

Who let the dogs out was the best version i have heard so far. we all now go around singing "WHO LET THE DOGS OUT" i would definately go out and buy this thing if you like carribean music cause this is some great stuff. The baha men are so unique in their reggae music. Go get the CD it's well worth it.

Hey Mon...get with the Bahamen,
By A Customer
This review is from: Who Let the Dogs Out (Audio CD)
Only a generation raised on the canned over-produced like of Britney Spears and the like...will tune out this talented Bahamian group. Spend a week in the Bahamas (not just the tourist traps either, the small villages and communities), get a sense of their unique Caribean rhythim and you will hear the Bahamen with new ears. They are very talented, funny, sensual mix of pop, reggae, calypso. Who Let the Dogs Out is actually a song about the strays one sees in Nassau...funny it became a Mets chant...good for the Bahaman and good for those who discover good authentic Caribean music.

Who Let the dogs out?,

You guys need to loosen up. How many US songs have been remade and people enjoy the new as well as the old? Give the guys some credit - they took a nice song and added an upbeat tune and some Bahamian flava and turned that 'good' song into a 'great' song. For all of you critics out there, some people still think that the song is kinda cute... Besides, how many US artists have made records that have no sensible meaning to them. A big example, "THE THONG SONG" and many of you Americans love that song...so give the guys there props.. the song is nice. Whine your waste and relieve some of the tension...ITS ALL GOOD:-)

Okay, I had a review here, but judging by the responses I got, it may have been inadequate.
Let's try this again... You All Dat - A funny story-type song (music taken from The Lion Sleeps Tonight). Nicely sentimental and not *too* corny. Get Ya Party On - *Great* song! A perfect example of what they do the best, lively Miami Bass. (That's what it's called. Miami Bass.) By far my favorite. Getting Hotter - A very happy, lively, quick-paced ska-esque number. Think "Hot Hot Hot", only far less annoying. :-) Summer of Love - Just a really pretty Carribean-style love song. You Can Get It - Ooh, Motown! At least that's what it reminded me of. Highly enjoyable song with a positive message. It's All in the Mind - More Miami Bass, but with a much more conventional hip-hop sound than Get Ya Party On Where Did I Go Wrong - The obligatory post-breakup song (a la Back For Good) that actually manages to avoid getting too sappy. Good stuff. You're Mine - Disco-esque ska. Probably the weakest track (definitely on the repetitive side), although still passable. What's Up, Come On - Another party track, nice and happy. Shake It Mamma - And to close it off, an energetic dance number about a sexy lady. What's not to love. So there you have it. As someone born and raised in Hawaii, I developed a taste for this type of music from an early age, but anyone who's into party music of any kind will love it. Well, that's all I have to say. Hope it helped. (Oh yeah, there's also some stadium song of some sort. Eh, whatever. :-D)

If you wanna get your next party kickin, or just feel like freakin oooh on the TLC tip, slide on up and get dirty with this. It's a sweet elixir of funk and rythm to cure whatever ails ya. Somebody put them dogs on a leash!

BahaMen is the best thing that happened to the Bahamian music scene in a looong time. Reading all the other reviews, I'm either laughing or crying. Yes, they aren't Reggae, they don't mean to be, either. Junkanoo is something typically Bahamian, not Jamaican. If you don't like this type of music, well, that's another thing. I love it, and I loved all their previous albums. Especially "Island Boy" was very big in the islands.

This song is new?,
This review is from: Who Let the Dogs Out (Audio CD)
Believe it or not, I just found out that this song was popular a week ago. I live in a college dorm without a tv or radio so when it comes to music I depend on my pc to keep me up to date. But then they played the song at a football game(go hokies) and I was suprised to find out that it was so popular now. This song originally came out OVER 2 YEARS AGO. I purchased the CD Soca Party 6 while in Grand Cayman in 98. The version on that CD has the same words but doesn't sound anything like this version. It wasn't even done by the Baha Men. It was originally sung by Colin Lucas Clarke. It's kind of funny that it took over two years, a new group and a total conversion for this song to get big here in the US. But I do like this new version=) Go to www.cdnow.com and look up Soca Party 6 if you want to hear a clip of the original song. It's under it's original title 'Doggie'.

What a waste of precious disc space this CD is! Little more than an excuse for drunk men to holler in public - this embarassing piece of trash is the new Macarena (but without the charming dance.) "Lets take these dogs out!"
