Decent explanation, but a little much for kids.,

This review is from: Who Made Me Cb (Hardcover)
I think this book does a great job overall of explaining to kids how they were created, and the role that God plays in it. But, I think the part that is just too much is the explanation of sex. "They start by kissing and cuddling. This is great fun, and moms and dads can get quite excited, so excited that dad's penis becomes stiff, ready for the important part that comes next. They like to get their bodies as close as they can. The closest they can possibly get is when the man slides his penis into the woman's vagina."
What?!?! Yes, that is part of this children's book, and it continues to explain what else happens during sex, without using the actual word "orgasm." Instead, it says, "A delicious shiver runs all over their bodies, and at the same moment the man's penis pumps up the sperm like a fountain." Although it may give parents a good resource as to how to explain things to kids, I will never actually go page-by-page through this book with my kids.

Tastefully Truthful,
By Mom 2 Twins 2 "Mom 2 Twins 2" (Fairfield, CT) - See all my reviews

Today, my 4.75 year old son asked "How did Daddy put the babies (he's a twin) into mommy's tummy?" I froze, floundered and answered in vague fashion "Special Procedure." Then I got to thinking, if he is smart enough to ask, then he is smart enough to know the truth. Thankfully, my friend had this book for us to borrow. The book is anatomically correct (in as much as sweet cartoon characters are anatomically correct) and uses actual terminology. It also works in God's role in the process. I think that it is perfectly geared towards the 5-8 year old crowd. I read it to my children. They enjoyed it, understood it, and asked appropriate questions. The mystery has been solved with caring and honesty.

READ THIS REVIEW BEFORE BUYING,

I was browsing children's books in a bookstore today - as I am soon to become an aunt - I thought that this book looked cute, so I opened it up. Inside this book it tells in simple terms (basically) what sex is, along with (drawings) pictures of a boy and a girl. I was shocked! And I was also very upset that any child could come in to the store and see what I saw - and that this book was CREATED for young children!
This is the most sexually "graphic" book that I have ever looked at, and it is a children's book!! One more disappointment, this book is published by Zonderkidz a company that I thought was supposed to be a Christian company.
