Editorial Reviews

Who Needs Johnny was formed in 2006 by Samantha ''Sam'' Haedrich (17 years old,
vocalist and guitar/bass player) and Alyssa ''Aly'' Clotfleter (16 years old, guitarist and vocalist) in Denver, Colorado. Sam and Aly have a deep background in music and actually met at a local school of rock. The girls write and perform all of their own songs in what is considered positive girl oriented punk rock music. Having entered into a recording agreement with Direct Music in 2009, the girls recorded their debut CD with Jeremy Colson (Steve Vai) on drums for release June 1, 2010 and they contributed songs for a major motion picture soundtrack, Monster Mutt (Drac Studios) as well as performing in the movie music video.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazingly empowering punk! June 8, 2010
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I found the download of "Poison" for free here on Amazon. I listened to it, downloaded it, looked the band up on myspace, and decided to support WHO NEEDS JOHNNY by buying the CD, rather than the MP3 album.

The vocals are strong -- Sam has a really strong voice for a 16-year-old. It's a flash back to Joan Jett...or perhaps, Kelly Osbourne. I think she has a lot of potential for becoming a powerful punk singer.

The guitar is really fast-paced. Aly is very skilled with a guitar for a 17-year-old, and could easily stand up to some of the powerful guitar players of today. -- Strong guitar that measures up to the vocals.

The drums are amazing at driving the beat. Jeremy's awesome too! Extremely energetic!

Overall...this is a really good old-fashioned, punky sounding band! I'm definitely glad I decided to support them. Go girls go!

5.0 out of 5 stars PUNK!!!! June 29, 2010
Format:Audio CD
At first, when hearing about the album from a friend, I was reluctant to listen. I hear the word "girls" and "punk" in the same sentence and it doesnt add up to me. However, I decided to look up their myspace and give them a listen and I was pleasantly surprised. Definately give off a "Tat" or "Green Day" vibe. I look forward to watching these two girls get big. Sam's vocals amaze me. For a 17 year old girl, her vocals are far beyond what is expected. She is definately the sound of the band. Aly's guitar skills are also far beyond her. Fast paced and edgy is definately a theme. Who Needs Johnny! YOU ROCK!!!
