My 8-year-old history buff loved this book. He has also read a number of other books from this series, and he has loved them all.

My grandaughter has thoroughly enjoyed reading this and other "Who Was" books. Amazon promptly shipped the book and provided their usually excellent service.

My daughter loved this book...Though I suspect, when we ordered it, she still thought the book would be about Queen Elizabeth II, she thoroughly enjoyed this look back to the sixteenth century. So much so, one evening, after we put her to bed, she continued reading (a nightly ritual in our house) for longer than usual to 'finish the story.' My wife and I sort of forgot about her, and found her still reading after 11! This whole series is great fun - I recommend them to anyone with a youngster curious about history and prominent figures. There are just enough challenging words to stretch a young reader's skill without frustrating them and so many teachable moments for a parent. Also, the periodic vignettes provide a built-in way for parent and child to take turns if desired.

My daughter had to do a biography book report for school. She choose someone else to do for the book report but did really enjoy reading this book. It was a easy read for her and was the right length to keep her interested!

I really feel this is a great series for kids. Especially if it is difficult getting your kids to read non-fiction. I feel like it has helped peak her interest in non-fiction.

I should have read the product description, rather than be moved by the recent publishing date. Although written in a simple style, adults could well profit from reading it
