5.0 out of 5 stars The only known Hurricane Smith's CD available
Though this is an assorted CD by 3 artists, Hurricane Smith's 6 songs are definitely the best of all. I know this is the only known Hurricane Smith's CD on the market. One cannot ask for more. "My mother was her name" is certainly a lost track, and of course, one just can't forget "Don't let it die". Excellent!

1.0 out of 5 stars Only 6 songs from original album; 12 songs from two unknowns
I was hoping to bring back my favorite album from 27 years ago with this CD. There is no mention that this was a compilation of three artists, so only one third of the songs are from Hurricane Smith. I want his songs and only his songs from the original album on a CD! Not this. I'm very disappointed and will be sending the CD back.

4.0 out of 5 stars Hurricane is a classic!, October 1, 2003

You can criticize this particular collection, but I must challenge the critique of the artist himself.
With undue respect to the Shrieking Senior in our midst, it takes a discerning ear--and not a cynical tongue--to appreciate the uniqueness of Hurricane Smith, a very original 1970's artist. Yeah, he's raspy, rough. So was Tom Waits. Smith has an unusual flare for melody, and to buck the trend with horns in the middle of the fuzz guitar heyday is pure bravery. This may not be one of his best releases, but if he's so terrible and akin to Jerry Lewis singing, I ask you, Mr. Shriek, why do collectors pay an easy $75 US for his collection DON'T LET IT DIE? Find out more about the artist, his perspectives and contributions--before knocking him. Hurricane Smith... a rare, timeless, very human talent.
