The new sound is a welcomed surprise. I have been following Kristen May since she was in Vedera (once called Veda before that). She can do things with her voice that not many scream-singers can do. She is one of the only singers to give me chills with the notes she can fire from her lungs. This Flyleaf still has the rock style, just with a singer that brings a new era to the overall sound. Give Kristen a chance before you dismiss it... Listen to Vedera's Stages album ("Look Around" is an interesting choice) or their earlier rock song "Redemption Soon" for a sample of her flare. I will being anticipating the new Flyleaf studio album a little more now.

I was a curious as everyone where this band was going after the departure of Lacey, but I'm glad that they didn't quit. There are going to be comparisons between Lacey and Kristen, but there were going to be comparisons regardless who took over Lacey's vocals. New Horizons already showed Flyleaf going in different directions, and I think Kirsten is a capable vocalist. I like the sound; I like where its going. The spirit is still there and I'm looking forward to a full album. I don't think we'll be disappointed.

I disagree with the first reviewer. The newer flyleaf stuff has always been gravitating towards more a more pop sound, just listen to New Horizons. I don't think they could have found a better replacement, Kirsten fits very well. Let's face it, it's not going to be the same flyleaf we knew so we shouldn't review their albums based on comparing them to who they were, but review them for what they are now. I think they will still be wildly successful and am looking forward to a new full length.

Kristen's debut is good, although I would've loved to see the other songs that were left out, COTG/GL/etc on the album. Something Better is fantastic, the highlight of the album in my opinion is the live version of Broken Wings. Hopefully they'll release a LP soon o we'll get to hear more of what Kristen and the guys do.

It's good to hear the new singer's first recorded effort with the band, even if it is just one song. The remaining 4 songs are the new singer singing the older songs at concerts but I like live music so that's cool with me. Nice to get another take.
