5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Read, September 3, 1999
This review is from: Who You Are When No One's Looking: Choosing Consistency, Resisting Compromise (Paperback)
This book is one that has really challenged me to evaluate my character. I use it and recommend it often. The straight forward and thoughtful approach is affective. There is a temptation to make excuses for ourselves and others when we display character flaws. And our society winks at "whites lies" and "small sins" , but God holds us to the highest standard. Read this when you are truly ready to honest with yourself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book on Christian Character!, April 12, 2003

This review is from: Who You Are When No One's Looking: Choosing Consistency, Resisting Compromise (Paperback)
I have never been disappointed with a book by Bill Hybels. This latest read is certainly no exception. Hybels addresses eight qualities of Christian character: courage, discipline, vision, endurance, tender love, tough love, sacrificial love, and radical love. He opens and closes his work by stressing the importance of having the character that only Jesus Christ can produce. Hybels is easy-to-read, yet profound in his biblical teachings.

I've read many books on Christian character, and this one is among the best.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful book, April 26, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Who You Are When No One's Looking: Choosing Consistency, Resisting Compromise (Paperback)
This is a wonderful book. For those who are fighting bad habits like procrastination, disorganization, poor time management, etc., this book is one of the best you can read. It shows how to achieve discipline, courage, endurance, and the other things which lead to a successful and contented life. It gives a strong Christian viewpoint but it does not push a political viewpoint, which is very refreshing. I would strongly recommend this book for anyone seeking to manage any aspect of his/her life more effectively.

5.0 out of 5 stars CHARACTER BUILDING AT IT'S BEST, May 1, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: Who You Are When No One's Looking: Choosing Consistency, Resisting Compromise (Paperback)
Anyone, from a zero to a hero, can learn to be a better person. The scripture tells us, "Let every man examine himself." If you see yourself as you are you will remain as you are. But, if you see yourself as you can and should be you will become as you can and should be

5.0 out of 5 stars A book to have in my own Library and to give to others!, January 31, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Who You Are When No One's Looking: Choosing Consistency, Resisting Compromise (Paperback)
Rev Bill Hybels has done a remarkable job of defining "character" something so important;that many have lost sight of. Easy reading, one that you want to sail right thru; and one that you will read over and over. I have read it twice. Have given it to three special friends and they love it too!

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly Recommended, March 26, 2010
This review is from: Who You Are When No One's Looking: Choosing Consistency, Resisting Compromise (Paperback)
Awesome! Awesome! This is a wonderful book. I highly recommend this book to everyone. It is defintely a book that will help those of us wanting live w/ more purpose & intention. I am using this book w/ my son (11y.o.) to discuss character qualities that I believe are important for all of us to have - character traits that Jesus modeled. This book provides a great framework for us to have wonderful discussions about how these character traits look in our lives as well as ways that we can put these traits into practice in order to walk more like Christ.
