The deck is out of print, and there seems to be no web presence for Rae Hepburn online. Does she happen to be reading this, or is there anyone else here who knows where I can contact her online? I really only want to thank her for her work and ask her a couple of questions about the cards.
I've contacted the publishers of this deck, and if they reply with any information I will post it here.
dear ms hepburn, so many people love your deck and it has been OOP for years, I hear. I know it is probably difficult and you've been asked this a million times, but are you considering republishing at any time? Thank you,
dear sb20, thank you for those kind words. Tuttle Publishing was considering reissuing the Fortune Tea Leaf Cards this year, but advised me ten days ago that they had decided against it. As I own the patent and all rights to the cards, I am now trying to find another publisher which is not easy in these difficult financial times. Hopefully, one will turn up soon. Rae Hepburn
I have read so many wonderful things about your great oracle decks especially the Tea Leaf oracle. I am trying to find a oracle deck or a divination system that would be able to predict pin point the dates of specific events by month, week, or day of the year. I came across a patent website and saw your patent # 5954331 described as a "Method for Fortune Telling Game". After reading it I felt that this is exactly what I was looking for. However, your description sounds like the Tea Leaf Fortune Telling deck. Is it the same? Or different. Do you have any books, oracle deck, or divination system that I can purchase that is designed for timing/predicting events? In terms of the Tea Leaf deck, can it pin point events by month, week, and day and time of day AM or PM (if possible)?
If you don't have anything that meets my requirements, can you recommend a book or oracle deck that is good for predicting time events? I appreciate your help and look forward to purchasing your products. I am very excited and hope to hear from you very soon. Thank you so much for everything.-----Sam
Patent #5954331 is the patent that covers "Tea Leaf Fortune Cards." Unfortunately, "Tea Leaf Fortune Cards" are OOP at the moment. There are some copies available at Amazon but they are expensive.
I have never come across any book or oracle deck that can accurately predict events to the exact time of day or day even - they just don't work that way. "Tea Leaf Fortune Cards" has a method by which you can predict the coming week and I think that is about as close as you can get. I'm sorry I can't be of more help. Rae Hepburn
Rae, I will finish my sentence-- I see you said you are looking for a publisher for your Tea Leaf Fortune Cards-- I would suggest if you do finally get them published-- could a protective coating of some sort be applied to protect them from body oils from our hands and also fluids- an accidental spill of a drink can ruin them rather quickly. These are just some ideas to ponder over when offering them back into circulation. I hope the cost is much lower than what they are going for on Amazon and Ebay!!! If they are offered back into print--where do you think we could find this information ASAP?? I look forward to your response. Thank You. :) :)
Dear Brenda: Hopefully, next year. All the things you suggest about protecting the cards so that they last longer makes a lot of sense. However, it's easy to ask publishers to do stuff, it's just very difficult to get them to do it. For example, the original set of Tea Leaf Fortune Cards was supposed to have been packaged in an oversized teacup and were originally slated to sell for under $20. When they reached market, they were in a dreadful box (which I absolutely hate) and sold for $29.99 so you can see that the author has very little to do with the finished product once the rights have been sold to a publisher.
I agree with you, the prices of the sets on Amazon and Ebay are astronomical, but, again, there is nothing I can do about it.
I am also looking to get a set of these wonderful looking cards. They are so unique. Is there any update on a publishing date? Is there anything I can do as a potential customer to promote your cards? Thanks!
Thanks for your lovely compliments on the cards. It's very kind of you to offer to help, but there is very little you can do other than ask when Tuttle when they plan to republish them. In the meantime, now that I'm back from my summer vacation, I'm going to redouble my efforts to find a publisher. Believe me, all you nice people will be the first to know when I find one.
Hi Rae Happy New Year. I have been hunting for these cards for a long long time, but refuse to pay the ridiculous prices people are asking for them. I do hope you manage to bring them back Rae. I like the others here and elsewhere are dying to get them. Some places are actually taking pre- order money up front for a re-print that I assume may not even take place???? Buyer beware I think! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE RAE bring them back. x
Hi Scotti: I'm glad you like the cards. I went to your website and saw that you had already posted the cards. It was interesting to see how you read them. I would have read the same cards a little differently as I would have grouped them according to my perspective. That is what is so great about the cards - they read differently for each person. I'm very curious to find out how your week went, so please keep me posted. Actually, it is not up to me to give permission (although you obviously don't need it now) as I recently signed a contract with U.S. Games Systems and they will be publishing the cards sometime during the next year. Regards, Rae Hepburn
Hi Ella: I just wanted to give you the good news that I recently signed a contract with U.S. Games Systems and they will be publishing the Tea Leaf Fortune Cards sometime during the coming year. I'll keep you posted when I know more about the publication date.
