More About the Author

A native of New Mexico, CHARLOTTE BANCHI frequently uses the New Mexican desert as a backdrop for her novels. Her time-travel novels are character driven. The author removes her characters from their comfortable environment and drops them into a past (or future) time that is often filled with danger.

WHERE DID THE IDEA COME FROM?

THE WHOLE ENCHILADA: A Payton Claymore & John Raines novel.
This one all began one sunny afternoon in Carlsbad, NM when I was standing outside the courthouse. A man an woman were coming down the steps and I heard the woman say, "I told him that wasn't me, but they won't listen." I got to thinking "what-if" two women looked alike and one was killed but ...

COYOTE WIND: Payton Claymore & John Raines novel (Book 2): I really liked getting to know Payton, John, Del & Annie (in The Whole Enchilada) and felt their story wasn't quite finished. And from the way this one turned out, they want one more round. Book 3: work in progress

BEYOND THIS TIME: I wanted to write a ghost story and ended up traveling through time. I also have a great dislike for racism, in any size, shape, or form. I'll admit that I climbed on my soapbox during the writing of this novel. I wanted to make a point, and from the reader reviews and comments I believe I succeeded.

OUR PLACE IN TIME: A trip to White Sands, NM and a long time fascination regarding The Philadelphia Experiment got thrown into my mind blender and what came out is the novel.

ECHOES THROUGH TIME: I have always been fascinated by the Anasazi. The more I read of this 11 AD tribe the more I began to wonder what it would be like to have lived among them. A trip to Chaco Canyon sealed the deal. As I wandered the ruins I, like Jeremiah Dakota, began to have visions. I watched in awe as the Great House came alive. The idea was born, and soon put on the page.

CHILDREN OF TIME(young adult time-travel romance). To be honest I just wanted to see if I could write a teen heart throb novel. (Maybe I read too much "Twilight."

WINDOW IN TIME: Having always wanted the ability to cast spells, I decided a novel about witches and wizards was a must. I love San Francisco and the amazing fog. Passing over the Golden Gate bridge as literal wall of fog enveloped our car and I wondered, what if someone could travel IN the fog. The idea of being able to step through a portal into another time, or reality, is not a new literary device. But it still works!

Del Harren has had a checkered past, but it's her future that frightens her now. With a new face and a new identity, she has to find her "Twin", Rachel Logan. she also has to find the good Dr., Augustus Cain; the man who gave her this new and beautiful face, and stop him before he can kill again, especially since she's the one he wants to do in. Along the way, she also has to confront her past and the love of her life, sheriff Payton Claymore. This is a well written tension filled page turner. Anyone who likes a mystery with a twist, will love this one.
